UK Auto Deliveries

I am going to contact LCC tomorrow and see what they say it’s getting a bit close to the wire now and thanks TomE I appreciate your help I may be in touch tomorrow 👍
LCC doesn’t deal with insurance but their solution/something I can try is to go on the insurance websites and enter my details and select manual (because no auto available in the transmission selection drop down box this bit is me not LCC)Then ring up the company and see if they will insure an auto, Admiral insurance company won’t insure because the auto ain’t on their database so looks like that’s my next step is to phone insurance companies and say I have a quote from you for a lotus Emira manual but mines an auto and go from there 🙄

anybody insured an auto yet any pointers 😳🤔

Important update for anyone looking for V6 FE auto insurance (UK specific)

I have some good news - I have confirmation that the V6 FE auto does has Type Approval in the UK. This has been officially confirmed to me today by Thatcham, I am enormously grateful to them for their assistance to finally answer the question that has often featured in my posts. We can now finally put this to bed, I will be very glad to not have to write about this any further!

The V6 FE auto data has been uploaded to the insurance databases and this takes about 5 working days to filter through to all insurers. This information has been officially provided to me by Thatcham today.

As I am a cheapskate at heart, I usually just pick the cheapest insurance I can find, but you often can't speak to these companies on the phone. I have just spoken to Direct Line and they advised that they only insure cars below £75K, but they put me through to Direct Line Select who deal with more expensive cars.

Interestingly, Direct Line Select insist on a tracker with driver recognition, which is a 2nd keyfob that you have to have with you when driving. Insurance through them is not available without. They took all my details and are going to ask their underwriters for opinion as they couldn't locate the V6 auto. The chap on the phone said that he expected the auto to be priced similar or the same to the manual, but this was just his view. I am expecting to hear back later today or tomorrow and will post an update.

Thatcham also shared with me the ABI (Association of British Insurers) code for the V6 Auto FE which is 30019255. If you have a broker for your insurance, they should be able to find the car using this code if they can't find it listed on their quote system. As noted above, this should all be live in the next few days (maybe into next week with the Easter bank hols)

Just for further info the code for the V6FE manual car is 30019249. The vanilla versions are V6 manual 30019250, V6 auto 30019254.

Power output of all 4 variants of the 3.5L V6 Emira (FE manual, FE auto, vanilla manual, vanilla auto) is the same at 400.

I will keep you all updated on the Direct Line Select quote.

I have done a quote on gocompare and doesn't seem to specify tracker required

Important update for anyone looking for V6 FE auto insurance (UK specific) – part 2 (see post #202 this thread for part 1)

More positive news to report

Direct Line Select has advised that their underwriters have confirmed that there is no material difference from a risk perspective between the V6 FE auto and the V6 FE manual. With this in mind they are able to provide auto quotes, that are priced the same as manual cars.

As you will be aware, some insurance companies require driver recognition trackers and Direct Line Select (who only insure cars above £75K) insist on a tracker being fitted for the theft element of the policy. This can be a factory fitted tracker or third-party tracker as long as it meets the technical specifications required.

The insured party could choose not to fit a tracker, but they would not be covered for theft. I can’t imagine how anyone would want that risk!

Interestingly, Direct Line Select offer a brand new like for like vehicle replacement in the first 24 months as long as you have owned the vehicle from new. This may be of particular interest to anyone who feels that gap insurance is necessary as this may negate the need for the gap policy. I have never had this type of cover and I don’t know anything about it, please do your own research if this may be relevant to you.

They provided me with a quote of £542 (age 59, wife 56 on policy, 8,000 miles per annum, kept on drive, CW12 postcode, 20+years NCD, no accidents/convictions), this is compared to my best manual quote of £330 which was with the RAC (via confused.com)

Hopefully, all of us auto folk that are checking out will hear something very soon now. I wonder if Lotus are waiting for the insurance details to filter through to the insurers systems, which should happen in the coming days. I think if I was the Lotus finance guy I would be screaming and shouting to get these cars out and the money in!

Question for the V6 auto folk that have checked out. Are you going for factory collection, dealer collection or home delivery.
I am home delivery - I wonder if that has any bearing on speed of delivery?
They haven't sent an invoice yet and now the 4 day weekend has begun! No doubt a scramble next week to get the money to them. At least it will give me a chance to go out busking this weekend to get the money together :ROFLMAO:

Congrats. Look forward to hearing your impressions once the car arrives, particularly with regard to the auto transmission.

This is good news for all involved.... but I have to inquire:
if a wife is younger does that affect the policy quote?
Asking for a friend.
