USA/Canada Delivery Thread

Yo buy a pre owned 4.0 718
Definitely don’t do that imho Emira is maybe not perfect but overall a better car
Stick with it.
Check with your dealership people have dropped out so you have have been moved up a few places.
Don’t give up

Hi all. I’ve been away for quite a while now. I wonder if someone here in the US, or knowledgeable about the US market, can catch me up on what is happening. My situation is as follows. I was a July 2021 depositor and ended up as #31 on the list at Flow Lotus in Winston Salem, NC. Ken Scott is my sales associate. As has been true for many, I heard nothing from lotus or flow unless I initiated the communication. This has been true for the last 18 months. The last time I heard from Ken, which seems forever ago, I missed the FE cutoff, which for this dealer I believe was 15 cars. Whether there have been dropouts since then, I have no idea, and past efforts I’ve made to find out where I am on the wait list have been met with no specificity. As has been true for all of us, comms have really been unacceptable. Because of this, I have backed away from the forum for really the past several months. The frustration associated with this experience has really been beyond what I can tolerate, so staying away seemed the best course of action for me. However, now I’m am as clueless as I have ever been about what’s happening in the Emira world. They still have my deposit. There was an opportunity to drive the car in November but I couldn’t get to the dealership from my home in Charlottesville. I’m really struggling to decide what to do at this point. I can’t wait forever. I have no idea when I might be in line to place an order, or if I should just give up and start looking for something else where I am closer to the front of the line. I would really appreciate it if someone could summarize the current state of things for the US market and when I might expect to hear something of consequence from my dealer. thanks so much!

Best,
Mike

Find out who the owner of the dealership is, and ask him/her. They will probably refer you down to whomever is available to help you, but when it comes down from the top like that, they'll help you right quick.

Alright Ladies and Gentleman, we have T-Minus 4 days till we are in January, which is alot of our production months. Lets hope these chaps had a well deserved break and we get some good emails soon!!!!! LESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Let's all say some prayers

Was at a mclaren dealer today and they had an artura waiting to be picked up, and the delivery woes on those sounds like they're even worse than ours

If you read what their CEO says about the product you’d never buy a McLaren

I deposited Sep '21 - No F/E slot either.... My summary and opinion is I will see a base V6 F/E in early 2024. Hope that helps.

There's not much to update you on. No news on US deliveries... Last official statement was production beginning in January with first deliveries tagetted for March. None of us expect that to actually happen.

Some owners have taken delivery in Europe and have provided some great feedback here on the forum.

Lotus can be a pain in the ass to deal with sometimes but even at maximum capacity they are still a low production maker. They make great cars and have an awesome history. This is just a bump in a long line of hiccups for this company.

The real question is when we will be notified when USA production officially starts? UK customers were not notified of delays until right before planned delivery dates. USA deliveries were not planned to start until March. So we might not know for some time?

That's deciteful and unacceptable. I'll be cancelling and boycotting their brand if that happens. Communication is essential to customer AND dealer satisfaction. How are dealers supposed to retain customers if HQ fails to communicate accurate time lines?

Let's hope for the best, but I think we're all planning and expecting the worst.

@Mike-engel Probably best you've stepped away as not to be frustrated with lack of proper comms from Lotus :)

In terms of where you stand, that is really bizarre as the dealership knows exactly how many deposits and when they came in. Now logic would be that they tracked and logged those in order to make sure everything is being fair. I knew what # I was when put in a deposit and moved up the v6 list when people dropped off as they wanted the i4. I would definitely ask to speak with the manager/GM and just explain you are trying to determine the potential timeframe for base so you could plan for the future. It makes no sense not to inform you. As a positive example, Macmulkin has an online tracker that assigns a number once a deposit is received and updated weekly. Wish other dealerships would implement something similar as it is a simple way to be transparent.

I never thought I would ever wait many months or years for a car either but we never planned for covid. At this point, I'm 17mo for Emira and 25mo for Z06 (which likely will be over 36mo as allocations have been much slower than originally estimated). I'm too far in to pull out now but this could be a case study for MBA of how not to do things when launching

I mentioned this before, but the more I think about it, the more convinced I become… just like they got an early batch out to China (HM video) and Australia (was it 20 or so cars?), I’ve a sneaky feeling the first batch of US cars will be as expected: Jan build, March delivery. As for later batches, I would imagine those are delayed.

Oh, I miss those days, back 1 and a half year ago, when we were thousands of times through the configurator!
If he posted this video at that time, we would all be wasting our time watching it, for sure.

I would be surprised if his car will be delivered in March in the US, knowing all the struggles that have been going on in the actual deliveries.
But, at this point, who cares if it is only two or three extra months delayed, right?

I don't see why comms to NA dealers and customers would be any better than UK - in fact it's been even more patchy so far. UK customers were advised of delays only 4-6 weeks before the expected delivery date and that's happened six times to a similar pattern.

Hi @Mike-engel and welcome back. I've moved your post and replies into the existing USA/Canada delivery thread, as that's where all the discussion about North America info is happening.

I heard that the configurator for the base model in the US may not be available until September... this is placed in the category of "unreliable rumor", but it seems to align with the indication that Base Model V6 deliveries for 2021 non-FE deposit holders in the US won't happen until Q1/Q2 of 2024. UK buyers are already being given "Winter 2024" estimates for a deposit placed now.

Yep, I heard base config available either January or September. 😂

This ^ seems likely - it never made sense to open the base configurator until most F/E orders were done, shipped and sold. Hold on tight guys - but the 2,300 cars for North America in 2023 will not be happening.

It came from Lotus themselves, well the Customer Care people. Would be nice to get a affirmative answer.

Right, that's my take as well. Once the base configurator comes online, people who have put in for an FE may start having second thoughts, because they may prefer fewer options and a lower price. It's possible that the 700 FE cars are all that North America will get for 2023.
