USA/Canada Delivery Thread

$185K to sit on your hands waiting for parts to get shipped in 16h a day?

I volunteer... but only if I can do that work remotely.

Hi All:

New member here, hoping to learn a lot about the Emira from you guys. Joining the Emira club late; I paid my refundable $2,500 deposit with Lotus of Vancouver on Jan. 9th of this year. Was told by the sales manager that I will be placed on the waitlist, and will be contacted by Lotus HQ sometimes in the summer of 2024 with regards to configuration and 2nd deposit (non-refundable) to lock in my order for a 2025 delivery.

Welcome! Better late than never.

Edit: Geezus, my reaction score is the number of the beast, quick, someone give me another thumbs up.

Edit edit: Phew, disaster averted, the Lotus factory can resume production. Thank you for your support.

Reps from Lotus Cars USA are at the factory this week. I’m guessing they will provide an update to NA dealers next week and customers sometime after that.
Seems like the wait is 18 months to confirm a build spec and who knows how long until delivery here in NA. Look, I don’t mind waiting and the exclusivity of it all but damn 2025 delivery will be 2 1/2 yrs. For that Lotus better keep the build allotments small to hold the value and keep the Emira in the Exotic category where it belongs ( I won’t debate super car vs sports car).

Ive been waiting since Sept. '21 - and won't get delivery most likely Q1 2024 - so yes about 2.5 years.... I would not worry about market saturation in North America... Lotus' max production is only 1/5th of 718 Porsche's. If they can hit max production.

Ill bet my Ferrari California that I wont hear anything this week from my dealer (becuase lotus probably will put a gag order on them). But I bet I find out first on the forum.....if they even give us the info that is.

Almost certainly :(

The bottle neck is chassis manufacturing that happens in a different factory. Max year production for that is 7,500 per year. I also think they are having a difficult time with hiring staff/production workers. 15K a year may happen, but not before 2025. IMO.
Need to get another chassis supplier opened up then. lol.

60 months?????? That's gotta be a typo

I hear ya. A part of me wants to believe that will happen, but deep down I don't think it will. Lotus will be content with the long wait list and demand. They are not trying to cover up the backlog, as you can see from Silver Storm's deposit information given. I think they will focus a good part of 2023 on getting build quality as good as they can. QC will be the main objective. Once that is done, then I can see production really ramping up. I still think that the Emira V6 manual order book will be filled by end of this year.

If a customer places a deposit in fall/winter of 2023 they will probably be a Q4 2025 / Q1 2026 delivery!! The type 135 (EV sports car) is slated to start production in 2025 on the same production line.... either that gets delayed by a year or two, or not everyone will be getting a manual Emira. I am on the fence which option they choose... most likely delaying the Type 135 if it was my guess. However it is being co-developed with Alpine, so I don't know if there is something in their contract that it needs to start by a certain date. Going to be an interesting year as this all unfolds.
