USA/Canada Delivery Thread

I think the big unknown at this point is: What if the Eletre bombs? A lot of Geely’s hopes and dreams are riding on that tank and the Emira sure isn’t turning a profit at these production numbers. Also throws off the fleet average fuel consumption numbers.

I’m wondering why I don’t receive any Lotus emails. Granted I’m not even a year post deposit but seems to me I’d get something like a thanks or welcome to Lotus. I’m wondering if my sales rep messed up and didn’t send my reservation or my info? I have the contract and receipt. Of course it just says my configuration code (an FE one. Yea right) and sales price MSRP plus some dealer shipping and prep fees.

I suppose there is that other EV model that's supposed to come out in between the Eletre and the Type 135; that could help spread out the risk a bit...

Two of them, a sedan and a smaller SUV. I guess the success of them also depends on good uptake of the Eletre.

It took me about 1.5 months to hear anything from Lotus after dealer deposit. That was back in 2021 though when Lotus didnt have as much to deal with in the PR office. I'm surprised your dealer had you do a FE configuration code as all the first editions were long gone. I just missed the FE allocations and I still havent submitted a 'spec'. I'd follow up with your dealer then Lotus customer care.

I was under the impression that NA car production was to start in January 2023. Now that we are in mid January, does anyone know NA production has begun? If delayed AGAIN, by how much?

Don’t hold your breath. Upcoming dealer meeting, reports of delays with cars sitting in inspection for parts, emails of waiting for parts, lunar new year, etc — we all know it’s coming — another delay.

I’ll personally be surprised if first US deliveries happen before fall 2023. Come on, surprise me Lotus!

welcome fellow Canadian... Time frame they gave you looks about correct. Enjoy the forum!!
Dido from an Ontario Canuck. This forum is great, the (long) wait is not.

I wish Lotus PR would send all depositors a monthly update to provide a steady communication link to their customers. It would help us through the long and sometimes agonizing wait. Like a long cold Canadian winter.

A good PR example: I purchased a product via a Kickstarter program 2 years ago that just finally arrived this past December. The company developing the product were top shelf with regards to their monthly updates. You never know if a Kickstarter project will become real but the monthly updates kept me in the game even though I considered cancelling my order many times.

My point is that if Lotus were better (much better) at communicating it would go a long way to strengthen their brand and quite possibly maintain their customer loyalty to the point that they would see fewer order cancellations.

Customer service and communication are vital characteristics of a good company.

Hopefully 2023 will be the year the new Lotus finds it’s stride.

Reps from Lotus Cars USA are at the factory this week to get an update and see progress. I expect they’ll brief dealers next week and then news will come out to customers via dealers after that.

Clearly we can recognize that this is a perfect wagering opportunity right?

Winner take all. Closest to the actual delivery date of the first Emira in the U.S. wins. Unfortunately you have to include year as well.

My pick: soon

.........okay, actual prediction: August 10, 2023

Back when I put down my deposit in September 2021, I received an email a couple of months later from Lotus titled "One Step Closer to Emira", along with a reference number. I'm not sure if the system has changed because that was so long ago. Also, the dealers may be running their own queue so it's up to them whether they submit your deposit to Lotus Cars. US dealers get allocations based on sales so it may not be necessary for them to submit your deposit to Lotus officially. Not all dealers operate the same way...

I think we won’t see first batch before June or July. Hope I’m wrong on this, but based on what we see I just don’t know.

First US customer F/E - May 29th 2023. My prediction.

I'm going to take the contrarian (optimistic) position and suggest that Lotus will want to show the US reps a US car in production (it is January after all) and that car will be delivered to a US customer by April 15. Sending positive energy.... :D

My prediction for first US delivery: May 21, 2023.

OK, my prediction is May 1st 2023.

That would be amazing. My birthday is April 27, so I'll hope for then!
