USA/Canada Delivery Thread

I really doubt that there is any ability to take over and resubmit specs for a FE 1.0 order at this time, at least not in the US, since those orders were submitted and locked a LOOOOOOONG time ago. Of course, we don't know what's going on in Canada, which may be going by different rules.
If if involved submitting a configuration it's not a FE 1.0.
But still good news for you.

In the US, you can order a nicely optioned Porsche Cayman GTS 4.0L for under $105K USD. And take delivery in less time then it's taking to get an Emira.

Lotus is pricing themselves out of this Market....... Plus not offering the custom options that many Sports / Luxury Car buyers want. I think they are making a mistake if they raise prices any further.....

They are saying in Europe, auto manufacturers will be reducing pricing. I can see very large incentives coming for new cars in North America starting this fall....

Anyone thinking of Flipping an Emira once US orders begin will be left holding the bag IMO

Not trying to be funny, but let me know where I can actually order a new Cayman GTS4.0 at that price and no ADM
I have tried to see if i can get on the order list in Dallas. Good luck and expect to be treated like who the F are you, you stand no chance.
Not selling my Evora, and not selling the Emira when it arrives. Just would like the Cayman as well.

Exotics are a different class.
You think you will see a discount on a Corvette or other? The deals will be on ordinary unsold inventory to clear the way for new models. Those won't be discounted versus past year, but I expect to see financing incentives. The APR is the reason sales have stalled (pun intended).

The Emira can offer something no Cayman can ever hope to offer: exclusivity, and is unlikely to offer: unique styling. These two things are important to a certain segment of sports/luxury car buyers.

I get what you are saying about price, but you know the Emira is an emotional purchase for a lot of people. So long as the Emira makes financial sense and is in the ballpark performance wise - which it certainly is against the GTS 4.0, then there will be many people like me who are willing to put up with a little crazy because the Emira tickles spots that the Cayman doesn't.

We're all a little crazy here (in a special way).

I hear ya, and for Emira I don't think we will see very large discount for a while if ever, just not enough production capacity for that IMO. More so other models I can see dealers offering discounts via manufacturer incentives to move older inventory.

The part in the podcast relating to raw material pricing coming down a lot and shipping - coupled with high rates and manufacturers raising MSRP's higher than normal the last few years to compensate for all the other increases/shortages. I don't think exotic cars will ever be discounted but maybe base corvette's I could see (not z06 or zr1 etc.) with 30K production per year, I could imagine after 150K C8's in the US... - but the average cars yes for sure and perhaps we are going to see a reckoning in the P-Car market.

I understand that from what you say, your Porsche Dealer in Dallas is not a place to do business with. That's unfortunate. On the other hand, I have 4 Porsche Dealers in the South East, with-in a 40 minute to 2 hour drive, that all sell for MSRP, NO ADM. Allocations for the GTS 4.0 cars do require a wait of about a year +, which is in the range of the Emira once they get Gov. Approval.

I have several Porsches, including a Boxster GTS 4.0L, and have been on the list for an Emira a little over a year. Yet I am getting more hesitant on the First Edition Emira's and even the initial Base models given Lotus's total miss-handling of the roll-out in North America and their continuing Quality Issues, with no local dealer support. (my closest Dealer is in Atlanta 1.5 hours away). Now with the Price increases placing the cost up with the Porsche GTS 4.0, it's no longer the easy decision it once was.

Thus my consideration to pass when my spot in line come up here shortly, and just wait to see how the Emira sells in the US market after the First Editions are delivered and the "New - Ooo Wow" wears off..... Might be some opportunities for discounts off MSRP like what you could get with the previous Lotus models..... with interest rates high and slowing economies, sales of $100K sports cars may be heading for a slow down. This is maybe why Lotus wanted all the FE2.0 folks to lock in their orders 4+ months before they will start building the cars.......

The decision is very very easy. If your needs can be satisfied with a GTS 4.0, that's the car you should get. It's better at being a mass produced low-risk fast sports car than the Emira ever will. Its the safe bet, the rational logical choice. It's the one everyone else buys, so why not you too? Why take a chance with the Emira if the Cayman is good enough?

Don't disagree with anything you are saying, but there are two big reason IMO why to get the Emira. You see Caymans everywhere. An Emira will be a show stopper wherever you go and that is a cool factor for many including me. Also, the gearing on the GTS is too high so you don't get to enjoy the manual like you would in an Emira. That being said, I have no doubt the Cayman is better quality (and I have owned two 911's as well).

I’m as aggravated as anybody about the Emira wait. I’m into my third year with my deposit down and my fourth(?) promised delivery timeline.

But I’ve turned down two allocations for the Cayman GTS4.0 at MSRP in the last few months because I just don’t want it, I want an Emira. They aren’t substitutes for me, regardless of price point.

I am right there with you regarding the looks! The Emira is a clear winner.

I do not find the Gearing on my 718 GTS 4.0 to be too high. I have heard this comment online before, yet many of the folks in our local PCA, including myself do not feel the gearing is any problem. Maybe this is more of a personal preference issue, so there will be lots of different view points, and I respect each.

I'm currently in the position that buying an Emira will be a total entertainment purchase, as I really do not need another vehicle, and even though I would like the Emira to be as trouble free as my Porsches have been, I realize that probably will not happen........ unfortunately. So, I can choose to delay my purchase and give Lotus more time to improve their quality & possibly offer some customization options.... or make the purchase when my spot in line come up. The decision will be partially based on how well the Emira quality looks on the FE1 cars delivered in North America starting in 2024.

I also find your comment that in North Carolina "you see Caymans everywhere" interesting......... I'm just down the road from you in South Carolina and occasionally see a Cayman or Boxster out in the wild, but not "everywhere". Might be a total economic-geographical condition and my SC Upstate area just does not have the $$ floating around for expensive sports cars to be plentiful. Yet your point that the Emira will be more exclusive is undeniable.

I hope to meet up with you someday in our Emiras and we can further discuss the Pros and Cons of Emira ownership. (y)

Yes, I live in Western Wake County (Raleigh/Cary, etc)....tons of tech and medical jobs here and a huge luxury car market, so yes, I see a lot of Porsches. We are the largest county in the State. We'll compare notes till we get our cars! fyi....I am also in line for a Porsche 911T but would rather have the Emira.
