USA/Canada Delivery Thread

A friend texted me this, is this new or old and I missed it?

I received the same letter from Ivan at Galpin Lotus. Can anyone explain to me what a "dynamic tour" is? Or how it is meant to keep the mob at bay that are all waiting with $5,000 in their Lotus IOU account?

Nothing makes me laugh more than when someone that has you by the throat says that they appreciate your "patience". I had a dentist that told me that while I was shot up with novocaine about 6 weeks ago.... I'm committed, half my teeth are out, the numbing agent is wearing off, but Lotus yes I am happy you appreciate my patience.

I just emailed back to Ivan to ask where I sit now in the queue for the i4 AMG.... last check was September 22, 2022 and I was #35 on the list. Hoping all the softies (sorry, the "impatient") have dropped out and to be in the mix for an FE after this wait!!

So if that’s indeed new it sounds like US Lotus dealers went to Lotus and got zero news or zero news they want released. So likely more delays and a “dynamic tour” — test drive round 2 and hope people don’t drop out?

Let me try to decipher the cryptic Lotus message….

- There will most definitely be another delay
- Dealers are most likely not getting their Demos on time. Instead Lotus brought over a few more Emira‘s, perhaps with different colors and options to do yet another Tour in place of dealer demos. Maybe sport & tour setups and more test drives for all the people that missed out the first time
-The dreaded word “soon” appeared again - this always implies 2-3+ months delays
-This notice was sent to prepare you in advance for when they tell you about the delay

By far the most difficult car I have ever bought. Never seen anything like it before. So frustrating …. Jethro was spot on

Does Lotus go by FY or CY for this? Q2 Cy is April/May/June but FY is Jan/Feb/March.

And do we think they will hit their Q3 Base deadline??????!

CY - IMO, would make sense if production started Jan to get the first cars in April

There is a zero percent chance they deliver a base Emira in Q3 2023.

Unconfirmed, but it's sounding like production start for North America has been pushed to end of February. If true, that's not as bad as I was expecting, but we'll see. Hopefully we can get some confirmed updates soon.

Always enjoy hearing it from the Forums first and not my dealer. Unconfirmed here is basically confirmed. Forums has mostly been spot on.

Does anyone know about non refundable deposit laws? Tired and just want me deposit back.

I’m by no means endorsing this behavior but if someone has a low number and wishes to back out can someone else take their spot? I ask because it should be discouraged if allowed.

So, two months of delay? That's not too bad. Would mean June build and August delivery for me. Maybe. Will allow me to get some good summer driving in.

It varies from state to state, but you shouldn't have a problem seeing as they've failed to communicate and deliver by a reasonable date.

Did have a problem, wont give it back. Don't want to put more info out as I don't want to get retaliated against. Makes me think there are no other people in line that want a FE.

That's just the unconfirmed, could be longer.

You order hasn't even been built yet and the dealer hasn't paid any transport fees. Seems like a no brainer to me. Double check your signed contract and contact a lawyer. Most dealers would much rather return a small deposit than suffer bad reviews and a potential legal battle.

An unscrupulous dealer could offer the empty slot to someone who wants to jump the line (particularly if it is an FE slot) and charge a premium.

But most dealers are just cancelling the slot and moving everyone one space up. We’re seeing examples of this, with people being told they are now in the FE batch or have moved X places up due to cancellations.

I think it would be harder for the deposit holder to sell their slot before delivery, as the dealer would need to allow that. Also, Lotus Cars USA have asked dealers to pass on info on deposit holders, in an attempt to reduce some of these shady practices.

Correct, not just ask, but all orders MUST be accompanied by a previously approved Lotus Order Request submission ID with matching customer information.

Failure means redistribution of dealer allocations for any orders that weren't previously confirmed.

But is it 2 months? Wasn't it originally spring of 2022? 🤔
Can't remember back that far. 👴

Also, I am giving myself something to be optimistic about. I didn't get an FE allocation until fairly recently, after the announcement that schedule has slipped to Jan-Apr of 2023. So to me, this was a significant improvement from waiting for a base, so I eagerly accepted this as the "original" timeline promised.

I understand that perspectives differ…
