USA/Canada Delivery Thread

Always enjoy hearing it from the Forums first and not my dealer. Unconfirmed here is basically confirmed. Forums has mostly been spot on.

Does anyone know about non refundable deposit laws? Tired and just want me deposit back.
How much did you deposit? If it was me, they would already be in court and I would have called ever local news outlet and let them know.... shady dealer practises are all over the news and they are getting a lot heat. Ridicules to hold someone to a deposit, when the car has been delayed for over a year and you still can't get a date of delivery. Idiots.

You order hasn't even been built yet and the dealer hasn't paid any transport fees. Seems like a no brainer to me. Double check your signed contract and contact a lawyer. Most dealers would much rather return a small deposit than suffer bad reviews and a potential legal battle.

Unfortunately it is not a small deposit, and there was no signed contract after I submitted the non refundable deposit. The only signed contract is for the refundable deposit. A contract was supposed to be given to me, and I had asked, however none was provided.

Can't remember back that far. 👴

Also, I am giving myself something to be optimistic about. I didn't get an FE allocation until fairly recently, after the announcement that schedule has slipped to Jan-Apr of 2023. So to me, this was a significant improvement from waiting for a base, so I eagerly accepted this as the "original" timeline promised.

I understand that perspectives differ…
Oh I had forgotten you had gotten bumped up. Fingers crossed they stay close to the newest time line for you!

Emailed my Lotus rep last week and he replied yesterday saying he was out of the country for a few days 🧐

But then he said he has no info on order/delivery for the base v6 (my spec) and that lotus will be releasing info to the dealer network soon (“soon”) with a bunch of updates. I can try to prod him about the FE build/deliveries.

Lastly he said my position in the pre-order line has moved up as a couppe people have dropped out, which doesn’t really mean that much cuz I still don’t expect base deliveries before Q2 2024.

Was expecting at least an update today. Nothing.

My dealer told me today that they expect to still deliver 30 FE’s in 2023 and up to an additional 20-30 Base for round 2. That leaves a late depositor like myself with a 2024 build confirmation and 2025 delivery. If Lotus keeps the pace of only 30 ish allocations per cycle.; Man I hope they can add a multiple of 3 to that.

Hopefully your dealer is hoping to get 30 FE's and not all of NA!! lol. Wouldn't surprise me.

Are these NA figures or just your dealer? At this pace we may die in the process.

Just the dealer but that sounds about right. 30 FE allocations and another 20 for the Base. What worries me is the second round of base allocations in 2024. 50, 100, 25? I want an Emira, and I’d gladly put down 50% to get a guaranteed build spot, but if I’m not going to get one, I’ll go get a gently used McLaren 570S. That’s about the closest thing in performance and price……..note: I will not drive a Porsche, ever

It took me about 1.5 months to hear anything from Lotus after dealer deposit. That was back in 2021 though when Lotus didnt have as much to deal with in the PR office. I'm surprised your dealer had you do a FE configuration code as all the first editions were long gone. I just missed the FE allocations and I still havent submitted a 'spec'. I'd follow up with your dealer then Lotus customer care.
When I put my $5k deposit down, he only asked what engine and colour I wanted.

State Inspections piss me off. First of all, 99% of them are closed on the weekends. Just called a dealership to find out they are open, but completely booked 30 minutes after opening. Waste a whole day waiting around to find one.

Depends on the state I guess, here in TX every oil change place has an inspection available. Heck you can take it to the Toyota dealer.

Yeah I tried toyota dealer, they were plum booked. Not able during the week as my work involves travel.

So based on everything we know so far, it's sounding like it will be another 6 months or so before the average "early depositor" North American buyers receive our Emiras?

When I tell you how pissed I am with lotus...... just happened to me a few min ago during a air filter change.

I mean really???? Was not hulk hoganing it either. Oem tool.

North American F/E buyers will probably start receiving Emira's around May/June until end of the year. Base V6/i4 depositors will probably start configurations on their cars in mid-summer for a Q1 2024 delivery. Best guess.

I think that timeframe is a reasonable estimate based on what we know currently. I don’t think Base V6 builds will start until Jan 2024, so earliest NA deliveries would be end Q1.

Unfortunately I’m #104 in the base configuration queue. That means that I won’t even get to configure my car until 2025. I can’t imagine Lotus being able to take anymore deposits based on this timeline
