USA/Canada Delivery Thread

Unfortunately I’m #104 in the base configuration queue. That means that I won’t even get to configure my car until 2025. I can’t imagine Lotus being able to take anymore deposits based on this timeline
It’s likely quite a few FEs will be up for sale with zero miles, given how long we’ve been locked into nonrefundable deposits and how much the financial/jobs picture has changed since 2021. Mine may be one of them but I’m still on the fence.

Laughs in Cybertruck
Touché, that one is right beside Emira. At least with cybertruck is a little more understandable. They had to build a billion dollar factory from scratch in Texas. Nonetheless, crazy wait from putting a deposit, what is it going on 4 years now?

Emira was all existing technology - in an existing factory, yes the upgraded the existing assembly line etc. but I’ll be waiting a total of 2.5 years (best case scenario) so, ok, I’m a little bitter sometimes on the forum haha

Are the US dealers obligated to sell only to the buyer who ordered the car? Once a car arrives, if a buyer really wants out, they can sell it to someone else, right?

To the best of my knowledge and understanding it the car arrives and buyer decides they don’t want it, the dealer can then sell to someone else as a new vehicle as it was not tilted or registered to the original buyer. It then I think a dealer owned car. They can offer it to the next person in line. Or they can sell it with added mark up.
Hope most dealerships will just sell to next person in line at msrp.

From what I hear the dealer is on the hook for the payment and it becomes the dealers. At least thats what I was told.

Yes they have to sell to the buyer, if they don’t want it they can do whatever they want with it.

I think that timeframe is a reasonable estimate based on what we know currently. I don’t think Base V6 builds will start until Jan 2024, so earliest NA deliveries would be end Q1.
That means I'm mid 2024....ok, more time to play with hopefully new colors and specs.

Information from Tammy McKenzie, The Relationship Manager for US. Not quotes, just summing it up.

FE still on par for this Spring. (Spring consists of March-April-May)
If I were to put a deposit TODAY (or monday, whatever) for a base model, It would be ready in 22-24 months (Winter of 2024)

Its not much, but I like to give information when I get it form Lotus.

I received the same letter from Ivan at Galpin Lotus. Can anyone explain to me what a "dynamic tour" is? Or how it is meant to keep the mob at bay that are all waiting with $5,000 in their Lotus IOU account?

Nothing makes me laugh more than when someone that has you by the throat says that they appreciate your "patience". I had a dentist that told me that while I was shot up with novocaine about 6 weeks ago.... I'm committed, half my teeth are out, the numbing agent is wearing off, but Lotus yes I am happy you appreciate my patience.

I just emailed back to Ivan to ask where I sit now in the queue for the i4 AMG.... last check was September 22, 2022 and I was #35 on the list. Hoping all the softies (sorry, the "impatient") have dropped out and to be in the mix for an FE after this wait!!
Not that I'm presumptuous enough to tell an OEM how to run their business. But to devote precious production for promotion purposes of a car that is delayed getting into the hands of real customers seems to be misguided. Move the metal. That's the whole game

Ford is offering $2500 if you cancel your Bronco order and reorder at the back of the line. High demand and parts delay. Sounds familiar🤷‍♂️

Interesting. What's the date of that communication from Tammy?

Interested to know this as well. I wrote Tammy a strongly worded email on the 11th and haven't heard back. I've planned a follow up call tomorrow.

Thanks for sharing this, but isn’t 22-24 months winter of 2025? Was any information shared regarding start of Base Edition configuration and/or production for folks that have had deposits in for > 1 year?

Any information on timing of future versions?

I try not to speculate but the fact that you were answered on a Sunday means they must have arrived at a go forward communication from the Lotus US visit last week. And, I would assume that if they communicated the info to you, a more general communication should be coming very soon (tomorrow?).

Today to December 2023 is 11 months
December 2023 to December 2024 is another 12 months. So around 22-24 moths. Thats how I took it....If they said Winter 2023 I would assume the end of this year, so winter of 2024 I take to mean next years end.

Yeah but is her info based off the new info? She can still be replaying the same broken record they all were up to now. IMHO, until we have the official word/message all the speculation, communication is meaningless. Even Lotus reps had bad info.
