My point is the EV business has minimal impact on Emira. Lotus produces 40 Emiras a day, 4 days a week, say 40 weeks a year, that is equal to 6400 cars a year. It is 640 million US dollar per year business, I wouldn't think this business is tail, at least before Lotus EV in full production.
That's revenue, but is it profitable? Remember Lotus UK laid off 200 people recently. Even though USA has proven it's the revenue generator the UK has always not cared enough to do basic paperwork to sell cars here properly. Elise launch delays for 1+ years, Evora launch delays, Evora 400 delays causing gap years, and Evora GT gap years, now Emira years long delays. They sure do treat the USA market special when it's the place that saves their bacon every single time.
China factory is 150k units capacity, the focus is now on that ramp up and support. USA sales of Emira are an after thought this entire time, as stated by others, Lotus doesn't give a shit :-(
The EV orders are growing, and a new EV sedan is in production next year. Quotes from lotus showing the increase in suv EV orders.
"As of January 31, 2023, Lotus had received more than 5,000 Eletre orders worldwide." - Lotus press release March 29th.
"Company had accumulated global orders of approximately 17,000 units as of June 30, 2023, for Eletre and Emira" lotus pres release September 7th.
If Emira is not able to pay back the investment on it's own factory and cover it's warranty expenses, I don't think the EV sports car will be built in Hethel when it will be using all parts supplied from China and shared with the Wuhan factory products.
This is so totally off topic sorry everyone.
I just want Emiras here so people trade in or sell their Evora 400/GTs.
I'll be seeing the SUV tomorrow in Detroit so it's on my mind.
