USA/Canada Delivery Thread

This topic has been covered to death here. Basically, Lotus said there was a supplier issue with the manual wheels and they could only get all black. Now why they couldn't source colored stitching these past 2.5 years? Good question. I assume they already received the bulk order of black wheels and didn't want to deal with the fuss of allowing early customers to go back and update their spec.
Sorry, I guess I'm more trying to figure out why the option still exists for the automatic then?

Well in my attempt to be more optimistic about taking delivery, I changed my avatar to a picture of my car sitting in Charlotte. Not certain why, but this feels like a huge commitment and leap of faith as there is constant fear of getting burned.

The wheels are slightly different. Autos have slots in the back for the flappy paddles. I guess whatever supplier Lotus uses, was able to build those wheels with color stitching and TDC stripes right away and Lotus probably ordered both all black manual wheels and colored auto wheels in bulk.

Wait - WTF. I have confirmation from my Lotus dealer that my FE 2.0 is in build and is shipping "imminently". I can expect arrival (and delivery presuming CARB issues resolved) in late February. Then I get the lotus email. AND ITS AN ERROR? Is this real? Or am I drunk again? For the record - I never drank until I deposited $$$ for the Emira. Now I'm never sober.

My dealer told me this morning it was sent in error. You would think if that was the case Lotus would have sent out some sort of apology and correction email, but nothing from Lotus more than 24hrs later. It just boggles my mind how much of a cluster $#%^ this whole operation is. Spending this much on a car with a company screwing up left and right and can't seem to get their act together is really starting to give me a lot of pause right now. If this is what the pre-purchase experience is like, how bad is the post-purchase and ownership experience going to be?

There is no way that email was sent in error. Perhaps it was sent in error to some Emira customers (F/E V2? / or those with later build dates) - But there was two other emails outlining the delays to Auto Box and i4's. No way these were all errors. Maybe some dealers don't want to give their customers gifts so they are calling it an error. That I could see.

Regarding the email being sent in error: I think not *all* emails were sent in error, some might have been, but I don't think all. Maybe the cars that have yet to be produced, if KitKat's spreadsheet info is still accurate, will need longer than "a few weeks", but most certainly the already produced CARB cars and those cars that are in the US already at dealerships will be delivered within "a few weeks", if we can be a little flexible with the definition of "few".

No - my dealer specifically said yesterday expect a gift AND disregard the email - it was not intended for US market. And I know he said that to both 1.0 and 2.0 deposit holders.

I haven't seen others in my situation post, but I received no email. I made my "first deposit" where I provided an email / contact information /drivers license. I saw the email where Lotus confirmed my reservation with the dealership, but I have not built out my specific car yet.

It makes sense I wouldn't get anything, but I thought this might be another interesting data point on who did/didn't receive a communication from Lotus.

EmiraForums: Matt Windle, did you order the Emira email?

Lotus PR: You don't have to answer that.

Matt Windle: I'll answer the question!
...
Matt Windle: You want answers?

EmiraForums: I think I'm entitled to them.

Matt Windle: You want ANSWERS?!?!

EmiraForums: I WANT THE TRUTH!

Matt Windle: YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH! Son, we live in a world that has emission requirements, and those requirements are guarded by men with approval forms. Who's gonna get that approval? You? You, @kitkat ? I have a greater responsibility than you could possibly fathom. You weep for your Emira and you curse Lotus. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know; that Emira delays, while tragic, probably saved you from recalls. And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, *saves recalls*. You don't want the truth because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that call. You need me on that call. We use words like honor, code, loyalty. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent building something. You use them as a punchline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very pleasure drives that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it! I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way, Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a hammer and stand on the assembly line. Either way, I don't give a *damn* what you think you are entitled to!

EmiraForums: Did you order the Emira email!?!

Matt Windle: I did the job I...

EmiraForums: [interrupts him] *Did you order the EMAIL!?!*

It's like when you have an toxic relationship where you know the person you care about is such a mess that they can't get things right, but if it weren't for these mistakes, they wouldn't call/text you once in a long while. So even though you know better, you still eagerly wait for those calls/texts because you can't help it.

I too am struggling where the error was.
- update on your manual v6 delivery? Check
- delivery in the coming weeks (CARB impending) Check
- reward you for your patience and brand loyalty? Check
- VIN in hand and 2.0 car sitting at dealer lot? Check

Perhaps too good to be true can be true.
Waiting for both my gift and Emira.
