USA/Canada Delivery Thread

What's the over under on 2 weeks until we get some kind of official update?

There won't be one. They will simply sit tight, radio silent, and let all of us be furious. Why they do this, I don't know. It seems counterintuitive for a brand that's supposed to be winning customers back, but that's apparently how they do business.

Key is you don’t need a signed document to have a contract.

So long as the three elements below have been met you have a contract which I believe to be the case for confirmed FE orders.

  • Offer - One of the parties made a promise to do or refrain from doing some specified action in the future.
  • Consideration - Something of value was promised in exchange for the specified action or nonaction. ...
  • Acceptance - The offer was accepted unambiguously.
I want to stay optimistic that Lotus will get this right.
You may be optimistic for now. I have been optimistic but now not so much.
I very much doubt that after nearly 2 years of total BS from Lotus that they will get anything right.
If FE cars are now going to only be delivered starting October then I’m out
Won’t make that decision until I hear it from the dealer.

The comms are coming. Dealers asked Lotus HQ to communicate to customers and they refused. So dealers are at the mercy of HQ to send them an email update template which they can then send to their North America customers. It's BS and there will be more delays and headaches later this year. I wish I listened to those with previous Lotus experience before jumping into this. I hoped things would be better with Geely backing, but it's the same, if not worse now that there's more demand.

So if production begins in April and the previous plan was for 700 to be completed by July, does that mean all 700 cars are going to be more or less delivered to NA at the same time?

I just don't understand why they'd publish "Emira FE available quarter 3" in the North American configurator with their price increase, while they already KNOW quarter 4 is the soonest they'll be here. It is so frustrating... people have made arrangements in their finances and lives based on estimates and such... to be a year and a half off seems to indicate bigger issues with Lotus. If their goals and targets are so off that they claim and publish updates to overestimated targets only to still be off by a country mile, what does that say about management overall? What is ownership of this car going to be like when the manufacturer is needed for something? This news is so depressing...

Yea, none of this lines up. It just seems that a lot of things are constantly changing and they are still figuring things out as they go. At this point even the latest delay is just subject to even more delays.

The wait here for a 911 T is about 8-months, and with the cost increase by Lotus the price differential is nominal. It's a better performer, better dealer network, and will likely hold value better. If the Emira didn't look so damn good I'd have dropped it faster than a fat kid on a Snickers bar. I thought I'd learned my lesson falling for things that look hot but are wildly undependable and expensive as it never ends well.

Yea, the Lotus Emira is turning out to be a perfect anecdote for the Hot/Crazy matrix.

I'm on carguru saving 718 spyders to my favorites now... maybe I should just step away from the Emira forum for a few months.

I think we all may be on a reality show on how to run a business into the ground and lose your loyal customer base. But when will the cameras pop out?

They aren't selling any more FE's in the US, so I guess they can put whatever price they want! That bump probably is a set-up for the "lower" Base price to be announced at some point.
My guess…and it’s just that, is that for anyone who drops out that FE spot will go for the new price. Even for early deposit holders offered the chance to move up l It won’t be at the early price.

I really don’t care. I hope Lotus announces that they will only be able to produce the Emira at Evora levels. And after that 75% of depositors drop out. For those not keeping score Lotus made 6117 Evora’s in various iterations over 10 years. That’s pretty easy math; 612 per year.. When I saw that 5,000 in a single shift nonsense back in 2021 I knew it was a pipe dream and I happy for it. I’m in for an Emira and I know that over the next 5 years they might make 10,000. Maybe. My money says 7500 max but hey, what do I know. I like the boutique nature of owning a Lotus. If I actually thought that any wannabe off the strip was just going to be able to go out and get one I wouldn’t have ordered the darn thing.

I'm a late I4 depositor (late 22), but I think I am mentally out. I was originally assuming that I would get a car in late 24/early 25, but with the delays, I am starting to doubt even that is achievable. At ~$75k, the price was compelling, but if it increases ~$10k, I can't see myself not just getting a Cayman instead, even though I like the Emira more from a styling perspective.

Dealer just got me for $2500 for now, though, so I am going to sit on the reservation and see what happens, I guess.
