"Tell me you haven't read the past few pages without telling me..."Well…there goes my April build…..
This was taken from an email provided by Gator, posted on LotusTalk
To those who've already placed your order for a First Edition V6 Emira
I'll rip off the bad news band-aid first.. There is a further delay to your delivery date. This is not because of production issues but a delay caused by emissions/safety certifications for U.S. market cars. As previously communicated, FE V6 production will begin in May & vehicles will start to arrive stateside at the end of July; however, they will not be released to dealers until all certifications are completed. This has been quoted between weeks 42-50 of this year (mid-October thru December). After that point, cars will be released from port proportionate to the previously mentioned timelines.
Cost to get them to the US has also gone up, so probably a bit of that tooUK price went up by 8% at 81,995 (gbp)
US price went up by 11% at $105,400
I'm just not computing why we are paying 2-3k USD more than UK. It feels like Lotus is passing on the savings from 1.0 FE to 2.0 FE to make up for the loss of revenue. There is no way in hell input cost went up 8% in the UK while it goes up 11% for North America for the same product.
Since original pricing, no. Negligible at bestCost to get them to the US has also gone up, so probably a bit of that too

I don't know if that is the price, (or if Canada will receive any F/E 2.0) but previously Lotus did exact exchange rate USD to CAD for the F/E.... So 105,000 USD = 145,514 CAD (without freight PDI and dealer costs, Lux Tax etc.)Where have you heard that 2.0 FE will be Cdn $145k? That’s steep!
On a side note, base 718 Cayman GTS 4.0 sits at Cdn $104,122. Even if you add $20k worth of options, it’s still cheaper than 2.0 FE at $145k. If Lotus Canada is really gonna jack up the price to an absurd amount, Porsche is looking more and more appealing.![]()
I see some conflicting info... is October at the earliest just for autos, or for manuals, as well?"October at the earliest "
...we know how they are with being prompt.
This is something we asked about during a factory tour back In September. Said they had no knowledge of issues on that end. They seem to be making cars and just assuming it will pass regs. I would understand if it was a cheap product, but they are asking for the best part of £100,000 for each car... They are doing the same in the UK. Building Autos and getting them ready to give out to customers, but it's still not gotten type approval. They must have some sort of pre-approval in place. I wish they were more open in what they are doing, it sounds like a circus at Lotus HQ
Any car, this is a regulations/safety/emissions certification issue.I see some conflicting info... is October at the earliest just for autos, or for manuals, as well?
106k (or maybe more someday) for an Emira eventually... 125k for pre-owned 718 Spyder immediately... it is honestly like they are trying to get people to drop out. I have always wanted a Lotus but they are making it really hard.Any car, this is a regulations/safety/emissions certification issue.
My guess is that the 2.0 FEs will be offered to a certain number of people on the non-1.0 FE list, but those offered but who would prefer the base and lower price will have to wait, possibly for 6-12 months. Of course, allocation numbers will come into play.Curious about this as well. Not sure if I'd want to but it would be nice to know what the procedure is.
I believe the Base Edition was always attractive at the lower cost versus a fully-loaded FE, especially if you can delete premium elements (12 way seats comes to mind). My guess is that the 2.0 FEs will be offered to a certain number of people on the non-1.0 FE list, but those offered but who would prefer the base and lower price will have to wait, possibly for 6-12 months. Until you start to configure your 911T and quickly find yourself in the $130's...In all honestly, some of the last edition Evora were running around 110k those didn’t sell great.
They also didn’t look like the emira , the emira will still have demand just not as much at the previous price point.
With regards to base edition cars those will likely also be at or near the new price point. Inflation has hit everything.
Original FE price point was made public almost two years ago.
If a person can afford 105k they can afford 120k 911T starts to look really interesting.
That's IF they ever become available in volume. No idea whether that will be the case, yet. And if it's another full model year away, the price may increase again.I believe the Base Edition was always attractive at the lower cost versus a fully-loaded FE, especially if you can delete premium elements (12 way seats comes to mind).
Many in this Forum expressed interest in the i4 Base because of the customization.
Now that FE 2.0 is on the horizon for a further $11,000+, the same argument applies: the customizable Base model remains more affordable against price escalation.
Sure, you can replicate the FE by accessorizing the Base, but a larger number of Base units can/will be sold. IMO.
Hope you realize that many of us have received specific delay info from our dealers over the last few days, following the US dealer meeting that was held earlier this week. The communication is that US deliveries will not likely not start until at least October, specifically due to a regulatory issue. And we know that no US cars have been built yet, they were never scheduled to start production for our market until late April at the earliest.I also got the email and then spoke to the owner of the Lotus dealership where I placed my order. Boys and Girls, no Emira automobiles have yet been built with specs for the US market. No need to worry about shipping or storage. Everyone including US dealerships were misled. The Lotus company have been poor communicators but their grand plan is coming into view. If my source is incorrect, I apologize in advance. I do believe the above is accurate.
What do you even mean ... as we know the cars haven't been built for US and weren't supposed to be built until Apr (at least the last update we got). But then Gator informed us that will now start in May: As previously communicated, FE V6 production will begin in May & vehicles will start to arrive stateside at the end of JulyI also got the email and then spoke to the owner of the Lotus dealership where I placed my order.
