USA/Canada Delivery Thread

For all those that just recently submitted and received their cars. I think people are calling them FE 2.5? How long has your wait been from the time you submitted the build to the factory to delivery? I’m assuming that the factory running at full speed is churning them out.

Whoooo HOOOO! Finally! It's all the positive energy here for sure!! Congrats, very happy for you! Somehow it just wouldn't feel right to receive my car before yours @kitkat (but of course I wouldn't turn it away if it did)! ;)
@kitkat Dude, where's your car? You reported it on a truck on 5/21, awaiting your good news. Mine's supposed to be here this weekend. I won't pick it up if you still don't have yours (promise) 😉

Just drove it home today friend! Sitting safely in my garage.

Spoke with Lotus North Jersey today about my car which is due in any day now… was on the 5/13 ship. He said they are applying a few fixes to all cars now before they will deliver them… something they’re calling a “diaper”, and some other thing… maybe a pump. They have all the parts for the fixes. So, I’m expecting a few days of shop work and a mid-late delivery next week. So, I think folks should plan on roughly 4 weeks after the car arrives stateside.

The diaper is the water shield they developed to cover the AC fan resistor…

And no pics yet for us poor souls still waiting, well I am disappointed! But happy to hear your news, and especially that I can now pick up mine without guilt!! :)
Seriously! What kind of lame delivery celebration announcement was that, @kitkat?? 😉

All jokes aside, congrats to you!! 🎉🍾

Lotta cars at Park Place/WA being prepped
Yes - I collected mine this morning at 9am. My salesperson had another 4 deliveries to do today, including another DV straight after mine.

Car arrived on 3/29 boat, arrived at Park Place on 5/17, collected today.

Two slight issues is that there seems to be a problem with the fuel filler cap - when I opened it to look this evening - there was small spring, plastic cap and another small plastic piece just loose in the compartment. Need to call service in the morning. Also, no battery tender in the car - they are following up on that.

Here you go, it’s officially mine.

Wow you got yours already, congrats! When did you take delivery? I saw mine in person last Saturday but it was still in storage. They were already working on software updates and such for at least 10 other cars so I'm guessing mine's gonna take a few more days to be ready.

It arrived last Friday but since the holiday weekend Finance and PDI/Detailers weren’t working so delivery only happened yesterday (Thursday). They needed two software updates on mine.

Does anyone have any idea how important the aero fins on the engine undertray are for performance? Finally lifted my car and got underneath only to realize that one of them is damaged from hitting something. I'm confident that it wasn't me and likely happened during transportation. Before I picked it up, the dealer told me it came in with no damage, but now find out he never put it on a lift. He also said he thinks that it's only available as part of the whole undertray assembly and that Lotus would not warranty it. He's going to check with them, but wondering how important for function it really is.

The engine undertray plate is all one piece including the fins, it would be replaced as a piece. It's a new car delivery though, if he's saying they wouldn't warranty it then it should be on the dealer's insurance. Also, how the HELL would a dealer do a PDI without putting the car on a lift? That's a serious concern actually.

As far as the bent fins, It's just aluminum plate... how badly are they bent? Can you straighten the fins with a tool? You'd want to protect the surface as you do it to avoid marring it, but if it can be bent back straight, that might save you a ton of time and headache with a replacement.

He's a small dealer and an excellent guy, but unfortunately, I assumed that he put it on a lift. It was apparently impacted in the front of the fin and bent to 90 degrees. It's held by 4 small rivets, which stayed intact, but bent the rest of the fin into a wavy "S" kind of shape. It's supposed to be straight with a small bend towards the outside of the car at the front. Too bad you can't buy the fin because it's only held by the rivets. Also still not sure of it's function.

The fins are to smooth the airflow and increase their velocity traveling under the car. This increased velocity causes a drop in pressure and reduces lift as the car moves along. Personally I would try bending it back the best you can, drill and clamp it with some reinforcement plate material if the aluminum has fatigue failure. It doesn't have to be pretty.

I would 100% bend that back to the original straight shape. I bet you can get it almost exactly straight if you work with it a bit.

This isn't a load bearing part or anything, it's just a little aero bit to straighten out the laminar flow along the underside. Doesn't need to do anything other than guide a tiny bit of airflow.

FYI the way these are exposed on the bottom of the car, I suspect this won't be the last time we see this exact type of damage on the forum. They're going to be knocked by something at some point when driving on public roads. Even bits of retread on a US highway are going to tangle with these at some point.

Yeah that definitely looks like something that can be straightened without too much hassle. Use a block of wood, like a piece of 2x4, lay it up against the fin, and tap the back of the wood with a hammer to get the fin to slowly straighten out. It's aluminum so don't hammer on it directly. You want to apply pressure evenly from top to bottom and side to side. Use the other side as a visual guide to what it's supposed to look like.
