USA/Canada Delivery Thread

Last few weeks have been a rollercoaster of emotions for me and now back to square one, only deposit in, waiting on allocation.

End of April I received an email about orphaned emiras going for MSRP, one a shadow gray going for FE1 pricing. Other than ext. color, options didn’t quite match what I wanted, leather color , alcantara steering wheel, touring suspension, has privacy glass, not full black pack and different colored rims and calipers, but at FE1 pricing I was ready to jump at the chance. I had financing approved at 5.49. Meeting to see car to be arranged.

Fast forward 2 weeks I email back about the car and told original depositor changed their mind and will be taking delivery. I was bummed but oh well, shit happens.

Today I get a call about 3:30pm that depositor again backed out as they did not think the car was “that dark and expecting it to more like silver” so it was available again. Now we’re talking about seeing the car to arrange the purchase. I would have to apply for another loan as original offer expired after 30 days. Dealer is also closed on Sundays and my work schedule is packed for the week. I’m thinking I can make it out in a week Sat AM. Were about to set the meeting when now the price was hiked to over FE2 pricing. At this point the deal isn’t worth it for me considering many of the options weren’t what I want. In a ten 10 convo I went from being ecstatic to a mix of being bummed and frustrated. I’d rather wait to order exactly what I want, even if it may cost more as a base model and having to check off all the options. It’s supply and demand, I get it.

For anyone interested car available at Eurocar, lotus of OC. Here’s a photo also, looks better than anything I’ve seen online and has assured me I’ll be sticking with shadow gray moving forward. View attachment 44939
Stick in there, friend. Sorry to hear about the emotional rollercoaster you’ve been on. For the amount of money this car costs, you deserve to get one that is spec’d the way you want, or one that is closer to your spec. Be patient. Another orphaned Emira might come along that is closer to your spec. If not, you’ll be able to spec a base model *exactly* how you want it. There might even be a few more (cost) options available when the base model launches.

I posted a new thread on a panel fitment issue that I discovered with my Emira...thought I'd share here in case any of you had run into this and had a solution.

Gotta love dealer games... Let's see if it will sell with their ADM.

currently on the way to Boardwalk Lotus to pick up mine.

Hey fellow Boardwalk depositor! Glad you're getting yours. There's a GGLC organized new owner meet and greet on June 9 somewhere in Hayward. Hope to see you there!

Do you know when your car arrived at Boardwalk? Mine has been there since last Saturday so I'm still patiently waiting for the call to pick it up.

Thanks all, at least by waiting some more rates may be lower.

I might be in the minority about this but ADM doesn’t bother me as much, it’s just free market/ supply and demand.

It’s the way talks progressed from first offered at MSRP for FE1 model then suddenly 15k more. I also don’t buy the original depositor changing their minds over and over. Im guessing they realized FE1 pricing was way too generous and decided they could get more but when no one else inquired about the car (looks like shadow gray isn’t a popular color option) they reached out to me again with higher price. Price point should have been clear from start, at least I wouldn’t have had to pull my credit and get my hopes up.

@UCLAFC well hopefully they can't move it and get you back at FE1 prices. If you want it I'd just tell them that up front.

Yeah for sure, definitely did. I told Zach I was sold at FE1 despite not being the exact spec I wanted, but at the new price it’s not worth it. I’m ok with paying at FE2, even a bit more, but it’s got to be my exact spec at that price point. We’ll see how it plays out.

Sorry to hear you're going through that. I have no use for anyone who can't be fair. We all deserve that!

Just stop in every other week and show your face. Hmm that car still hasn't sold. Well I'll still buy at the original price.

Yes - I collected mine this morning at 9am. My salesperson had another 4 deliveries to do today, including another DV straight after mine.

Car arrived on 3/29 boat, arrived at Park Place on 5/17, collected today.

Two slight issues is that there seems to be a problem with the fuel filler cap - when I opened it to look this evening - there was small spring, plastic cap and another small plastic piece just loose in the compartment. Need to call service in the morning. Also, no battery tender in the car - they are following up on that.
Congrats! Mine was the car after yours. Realized after I got home that I have a missing plastic piece that covers the bolt securing the "frunk" on the passenger side. Emailed to have that ordered. There was a clip missing for the cargo net but I had them scavenge one from another car. The tire pressure was way too high if you haven't checked. Glad to have this phase (mostly) behind me. Do love the car!

Overall it’s been a good first few days - taking my 4 year old to Kids Workshop at Home Depot and for a milkshake at Dicks certainly yielded people stood looking at the car and taking photos - guess i’ll need to get used to that kind of thing.

Have noticed a few more things to watch for:
- panel gap/alignment - the trunk lid seems to be slightly off on one side
- check your floor mat fitment. I was driving earlier and felt something under my foot and it looks like when they had detailed the car, they hadn’t screwed the fastener back in (they are threaded) and had come loose.
- in next service display, something seems off (esp on days) - wondering if it was reset properly or has been counting down while we were waiting for them to be delivered.
- waiting for an update on the fuel filler cap, they are in contact with Lotus to work out the right part numbers

Silly Q - what should the tire pressure be?

But now there's a clip missing from someone else's car.
