USA/Canada Delivery Thread

@fcajr the diffuser is there to channel airflow
Yeah that definitely looks like something that can be straightened without too much hassle. Use a block of wood, like a piece of 2x4, lay it up against the fin, and tap the back of the wood with a hammer to get the fin to slowly straighten out. It's aluminum so don't hammer on it directly. You want to apply pressure evenly from top to bottom and side to side. Use the other side as a visual guide to what it's supposed to look like.
Even better, use two blocks and try clamping it. Maybe heat it a little and then clamp it.

Yes - I collected mine this morning at 9am. My salesperson had another 4 deliveries to do today, including another DV straight after mine.

Car arrived on 3/29 boat, arrived at Park Place on 5/17, collected today.

Two slight issues is that there seems to be a problem with the fuel filler cap - when I opened it to look this evening - there was small spring, plastic cap and another small plastic piece just loose in the compartment. Need to call service in the morning. Also, no battery tender in the car - they are following up on that.
What you're holding in your hand is supposed to be in the filler tube. It presses down when you put the gas nozzle in.

-Too bad you can't buy the fin because it's only held by the rivets.
If it cracks when trying to unbend it, and you fancy yourself or someone else drilling those rivets and replacing it, I would not hesitate to ask any local fabrication shop to "make per sample". No Lotus magic in a piece like that, just need the basic shape, bends and hole locations.

Heck, you could ask one of the supporting vendors on this forum if they make those in carbon fiber yet!

(says to all of his friends) "Yeah, there's more carbon fiber under there too. really!"

Good luck!

@fcajr CT Carbon makes a one piece carbon diffuser. Aerie and Jubu make extension fins.

Yup, sandwiched between two planks should get the wave out

I just picked up my car from the ppf place. They didn’t use the precut templates and did all custom work so there are no weird triangles or anything. They’re in San Diego area so if interested DM me.

Thanks for that input @kohubone. What film did they use, and did you do full body or partial? And do you think they charged more for custom vs pre-cut? And of course we'd love to see some pics!

I would 100% bend that back to the original straight shape. I bet you can get it almost exactly straight if you work with it a bit.

This isn't a load bearing part or anything, it's just a little aero bit to straighten out the laminar flow along the underside. Doesn't need to do anything other than guide a tiny bit of airflow.

FYI the way these are exposed on the bottom of the car, I suspect this won't be the last time we see this exact type of damage on the forum. They're going to be knocked by something at some point when driving on public roads. Even bits of retread on a US highway are going to tangle with these at some point.
The aluminum is very thin. Even a squirrel hit would likely take one of these out!

I agree and will likely do something about it when doing the break in oil change. I may even fabricate new ones. I'll see how cooperative the metal is. I'm pretty you're right....10 years from now, a lot of them may be missing! If Lotus sold just the fin, it would be a 10 minute repair.

They used Stek. Full body. I think the price was the same as far as I can remember. Let me know if you want to see any specific areas.

Well, shucks. After a short wait of only 2 years, 10 months, and 17 days after placing my deposit, yesterday I officially become an Emira owner! I was reminded of @silent cilantro 's post from back in March while changing my profile status: :p

Are people still doing journal threads? Maybe I'll start one and dump some more thoughts + pictures in there.

Ray sent me this pic this morning.
Nimbus v Osmium
Mine is on the right. Picking up Wednesday. 😆View attachment 44817
We're twins except for the yellow brake calipers! I went back and forth on yellow vs. black. I knew both would work but I chickened out and went black thinking it would hide the brake dust a bit better. Yellow looks great. Congrats on the car!

Mine arrived at the dealer today! Picking up next week. And yes, yellow calipers for me. If Kyle at PFS is right, the ceramic coat he will apply will just scare the brake dust away!! :)

Last few weeks have been a rollercoaster of emotions for me and now back to square one, only deposit in, waiting on allocation.

End of April I received an email about orphaned emiras going for MSRP, one a shadow gray going for FE1 pricing. Other than ext. color, options didn’t quite match what I wanted, leather color , alcantara steering wheel, touring suspension, has privacy glass, not full black pack and different colored rims and calipers, but at FE1 pricing I was ready to jump at the chance. I had financing approved at 5.49. Meeting to see car to be arranged.

Fast forward 2 weeks I email back about the car and told original depositor changed their mind and will be taking delivery. I was bummed but oh well, shit happens.

Today I get a call about 3:30pm that depositor again backed out as they did not think the car was “that dark and expecting it to more like silver” so it was available again. Now we’re talking about seeing the car to arrange the purchase. I would have to apply for another loan as original offer expired after 30 days. Dealer is also closed on Sundays and my work schedule is packed for the week. I’m thinking I can make it out in a week Sat AM. Were about to set the meeting when now the price was hiked to over FE2 pricing. At this point the deal isn’t worth it for me considering many of the options weren’t what I want. In a ten 10 convo I went from being ecstatic to a mix of being bummed and frustrated. I’d rather wait to order exactly what I want, even if it may cost more as a base model and having to check off all the options. It’s supply and demand, I get it.

For anyone interested car available at Eurocar, lotus of OC. Here’s a photo also, looks better than anything I’ve seen online and has assured me I’ll be sticking with shadow gray moving forward.
