GRP Emira Decat Pipes Now Available!

In your first video above, what driving mode were you in, Touring, Sport, or Track?

I'm hoping that the sound in Tour mode with the Decat pipe is less than Track mode in stock form. I'd like to be able to keep some lower level of volume. More than stock in Touring mode is fine, just keep it lower on a highway cruise, etc.

Would you say it is quieter than Sport when driving in touring mode with the controller set to Stock? (man, that's a confusing question).

Also, can you program 1 HomeLink button to toggle through the controllers 3 modes? I already use 2 of the HomeLink buttons.

Thanks,
I'll weigh in here in hopes that I can help. For the initial startup, even with option 2 (Valve fully closed) with the decat, the startup is still more aggressive than any mode stock IMO. This is partly based on feedback from my wife today when I started it up in fully closed mode and she was in the kitchen inside and said, "dang I thought you were revving it up."

That said, fully closed with decat is still somewhat quiet but I wouldn't classify it as stealth mode.

Unless you really need a quiet car, I repeat my previous statement of "just delete that 3rd cat and install the valve ASAP". It really does make the car that much better.

Just need to remember which mode you had it in when you shut the car off because it will remain there the next time its started.
My strategy is to make sure I put it into factory mode (button 3) before I turn the car off when I pull up at home. That way I’m not going to piss anyone off in my residential street with an early-morning open-valve startup.

I find button 2 (100% closed) pointless.
Factory mode in tour is fine for being quiet in “normal” gentle driving and cruising, without any danger of engine damage if you do happen to rev it out.

It would have been better to not have the button 2 option at all. That way Lotus could have no objection to the controller.

The Milltek controller is actually a Ford Fiesta ST part that happens to fit the Emira’s valve (check out the part numbers).
Maybe on the Fiesta having the valve forced closed is not an issue.

Exhaust ring gasket listed on our website for those that may want one to have on hand for install!
You can also get these at the local autoparts store if need be --- FelPro 61473
The Inside diameter is slightly larger than the original gasket but they work excellent.

Thanks for the part number and the detailed installation instructions!

Yikes! For those of you in Japan planning the install; the gasket listed on the GRP website for $10 sells for $35 on the Japanese Amazon site, and $80 on the Yahoo! Japan shopping site. The dealer list price here in Tokyo is $13 so ordering from LCI was a no-brainer.

Will your gasket work with other exhausts?

Well, yes and no Id say.
As long as the other exhaust has the recessed groove cut into it like the oem one does it will work.
If it doesnt it may still work but not as well/properly as it should. That recess gives the gasket a spot to mate up to and room for squish etc.
Our decat and Millteks have the groove machined in them while others dont.
Not sure about other guys mid pipes -- they most likely dont have that machined in. Ours will have it though.

Just wanted to jump in and say that I ordered the Decat pipe, Valve Controller, and gasket. GRP has been amazing to work with so far and I am excited.

Same for me, just ordered few days ago and the communication with Greg was amazing

Also thanks to @K_Squared for being kind to reply me some questions

Your website lists part number 61437 versus 61473 here, just wanted to confirm which one was correct? Thanks!

As long as its a good quality one that should be fine, they apply even pressure all around the pipe so I wouldnt worry about swapping.
What size clamp would be needed as a replacement? Any particular brand that you like?

These ship out Fedex 2-day, depending when the order comes through they will typically go out same day or next day and then 2 days transit time.

Iv`e had my Emira now for about 5 months now(Australia). Iv`e had 4 Loti in the past and came out of the Exige 410 to the current Emira I have now as I don`t do that much track work, but intend to do 6 to 8 track sessions per year in the Emira. I won`t got into the details of what I think of this car, but it`s enough to say that I don`t think too much about the 410 since moving to the current car....it really is something else...quite stunning really.

My question. Does this decat replacement have any real HP or performance improvements? or is it just a sound thing. Can anyone direct me towards some data that has explored this. Or does your experience with this modification give a better drive feel when accelerating. Thankyou

Maybe not ZERO performance increase, but I would say mostly sound enhancement. The stock cast exhaust manifolds (headers) with 90 degree bends and their built-in cats look like they would provide more than enough restriction. Any performance changes in dyno results of a cat-delete-only-mod would be negligible.

When we tested on an Evora 400 prior we did an intake and decat install to net about 10hp.
We will try to do a dyno test with just a decat on an Emira but like @virtualmacho mentioned the gains will be minor, its more about the sound with these.
For a more substantial hp increase headers would be the ticket but then you increase the sound even more, delete the primary cats and open up into another realm of things to think about.
