I was in the same situation, switched back to V6 last July. The first seven cars arrived earlier this year, another 20 have landed in the country this morning. Mine is on this ship and should get the vehicle in around 5-10 days. It has been over two years since I placed my deposit.Once upon a time I was in the i4 Emira camp upon reservation deposit. But then I realized I’d have to wait longer, I wanted an engaging manual transmission, and I wanted a glorious sound. I wanted something engaging to drive not something that sounded boring, I already have a Tesla for that. I called the very day after paying my reservation to be put on the v6 list instead.
And now a FE i4 costs $100K.
A lot of people think Lotus tuning operates outside of the laws of physics and they’re simply better than everyone else. The most surprising thing is that anyone thought the i4 was going to sound any good in the first place.
It's not Lotus's fault; there's not much you can do with a turbo i4, especially with modern emissions regs, etc., but the talk I've seen here and on other forums about how Lotus were going to work magic and that it would sound great we're just fantasy.
Yes it is lotus fault.. they could keep the i4 as is 416hp iso down-tuning to 360 to keep the v6 owners happy. If I can get my hands on a i4 in time Ill cancel the v6 order and bring that m139 engine to stock amg 416 as i should be.The most surprising thing is that anyone thought the i4 was going to sound any good in the first place.

To give credit where credit's due, ever since the Evora 400, Lotus has done a stellar job making a Camry V6 sound pretty damn good. Having at least given them the benefit of the doubt on the i4 did make sense. That said, now that we've heard it, it seems like there is more work to be done here for aftermarket companies.A lot of people think Lotus tuning operates outside of the laws of physics and they’re simply better than everyone else.

The China versions are running 400hp. Also i can deal with not as nice a noise if i get more power.Lol that's not going to make it sound any better, also if rumours are to be believed you'll run into cooling issues.

Thank you for recording and posting this. As expected, the Emira 2.0 AMG (I4) sounds more similar to other Lotus 4-cylinder models like Elan, Esprit, Elise etc of the past, and a turbocharged 4-cylinder in particular tends to have its own, more discrete, character. There is no use in holding this model’s exhaust sound up against that from the V6 supercharged model, and those preferring the “Evora” type of exhaust/supercharger note, as well as that model’s driving characteristics, should definitely go for that version and enjoy it.So here is the sound of the i4 at Goodwood, it does sound better in the real world than it does from iPhone recording. However glad I have the V6
My 4C begs to differ with this...The most surprising thing is that anyone thought the i4 was going to sound any good in the first place.

Just saw the replay of this, come on guys it doesn't sound that bad! I'm still very excited,Emira 2.0 AMG (I4) giving a great impression on the first run up the hill on at Goodwood, today Sunday July 16, 2023 (unfortunately I have not managed to compress the video file size enough to be accepted for upload here). I think the driver is Katie from the Lotus Driving Academy

Do you have a link to the video? Or if Tokion can compress the size of the file and upload it?Just saw the replay of this, come on guys it doesn't sound that bad! I'm still very excited,
It's the live link on youtube. You need to scroll back about an hour to find it.Do you have a link to the video? Or if Tokion can compress the size of the file and upload it?
I actually really liking this. the clip is now at about -3.00 and starts with the Emira paused on the hill due to a red flag. Henry Catchpole is talking about what a high-tech engine the i4 is. The car then pulls away hard with some very rapid fire shifts. Tip: If watching on a PC or tablet try some headphones, they get the base of the engine over far better. Pretty pleased by this I have to say. It's the live link on youtube. You need to scroll back about an hour to find it.
