I'm out - the cancellations thread

Ok. Now we've gone too far. :ROFLMAO:

Did you suffer an eye injury since March?

It grew on me too. It's not so bad in the flesh or on darker colours. Incredibly capable car with universal acclaim.. unlike the Emira.

Enough for me. I bought one, thanks to Lotus delays.

- You obviously never wanted the car in the first place
- You won't be happy until you drive a turbo car that feels fast and has torque
- You probably can't afford the car at this time and that's why you are making excuses and pulling out
- You are just making up things and blowing them out of proportion to try to make it look like the car is worse than it actually is
- Go ahead and cancel so everyone else can get their car sooner, good for us

... think I covered all of the usual responses from the fanboys that have developed on here. As soon as you decide it wasn't the right fit they come out of the woodwork to bash your opinions.

Sorry it didn't work out for you, at least you know for sure that you want to go in a different direction and can move on. 👍🏻

You explained that you can’t get comfortable in sports cars. It was clear that the Emira, or any sports car for that matter, was never going to be a right fit for you...

Life is funny... always liked Lotus... pulled in by lure of Emira... delays etc, yadda yadda... wore me down for now... so flipped on it's head and getting a glorious "analogue" Elise S3... I think that could actually be a better "my first Lotus" care anyway... I'll sit waiting for more spicy Emira's in future still of course

Same here. I find them almost beautiful, in dark colours in the dark with zero illumination. 😂

regarding this cancellation thread......

I am not out.... but I am also not in....

I cancelled my deposit early on after the pricing was announced. But the more I reconsider the more I am thinking of getting back in. So this can also be the "RE-CONSIDERATION" thread.

BUT....... I am waiting to test drive the car first. The reviews are mixed and somewhat lukewarm on the V6..

I have plenty of patience ( and other cars to keep me busy, C8, C7Zo6, Viper) so I will wait patiently for the I4.

I am glad I cancelled my deposit earlier this year, because I felt that the v6 is not for me. I was so tortured over the fact that the power plant is so old with no substantial upgrade , and for the FE asking price I felt I rather get something else with that money.

I will wait for the I4 with a dual clutch ........ But the sound of that engine will be the deal breaker.

I am still on the fence. I think a lot of the people here have no other sports cars and are tired of waiting, so I understand and can see their point of view.

Patience will be rewarded in this weird time of covid parts shortages. Covid stole so much of our lives. I feel as if I had lost the last two years of my life, with everything closed down, no restaurants no bars, clubs or social events. A few people were sadly even jumping off roofs. I could have been in a coma instead for two years, and come out of it, where at least I would have been fully rested and not so stressed out.

I am glad that some owners are already driving their cars.

I have to say that the delays in getting the cars into customers hands is giving people with deposits too much time to re-consider their purchase. Car dealerships know that once a prospective buyer says....."ah,let me think about it" that it will be a tough sell because now the prospective buyer has time to listen to everyone else telling them why they should not buy the car. And that is happening here.

For sure. Even myself and I am a blatant Emira fanboy  :)

Lotus are aware of this and, of course, very frustrated with the situation.
It might be our cars but it is their business, and the livelihood of hundreds is dependent on it.

The i4 DCT car might well suit more people as the more relaxed nature of a DCT lends more towards its GT aspirations. Maybe the car should have only come it and left us with a manual Evora.

Lotus will still sell every single Emira they will ever build.

Tomorrow I will be two weeks into my attempts to get my deposit back. Comms with Lotus have been frustrating to say the least. There seems to be a clear plan to delay repayments as much as possible - a classic failing business red flag. Given the Geely ownership they surely can't be so financially precarious that they need to hold back £5k refunds?

The problem is you used a card that no longer exists, not the fault of Lotus, failing business red flag hahaha

It sucks that there are hold-ups getting money back for a cancellation, but I'm not sure I'd leap straight to "omg, they're going bankrupt" as the explanation. Being firm, polite, and persistent is the best way to get a result I imagine... it's The British Way.

Lotus has my £5k in its bank account - it could transfer it to my bank account in minutes, but has chosen not too, repeatedly. It could send me a cheque if it wants to go old school. The closed credit card account is a complete red herring - they just need to make sure the money is returned to the same person who deposited it with them. You dont think not returning customers money is a red flag - have you heard of FTX?

I agree - all my interactions with them have been polite. By the way I'm not suggesting theyre going bust given the Geely ownership - but its a worrying sign when businesses dont refund people promptly.

Life is as hard as you make it, you will get your money back

I'm 5 weeks in.

What with buying another car 4 weeks ago and Christmas coming up as well as my GFs 40th 6 days later believe me I really need it back!

I got told it would be 14 days 🤷

Test drive last Friday

Based upon the above and a couple of other factors I cancelled my order at 7.30am this morning and in true "you couldn't make this up fashion" I have just received my Emira checkout email at 11.30am o_O (no slight intended towards Lotus here, just impeccable timing).

Anyway I cant say that it hasn't been an interesting ride the last 18 months! And EVERYONE on this forum has been amazing, some great characters and massive enthusiasm for the brand, which is exactly what Lotus needs right now.

It is a shame the car didn't 'quite' hit the mark for me. I was never here to make money on the car if it didn't suit my requirements, so I hope my cancellation means that one lucky individual with a classy Nimbus build gets some good news in time for Xmas.

Take care all and enjoy those gorgeous looking cars

Merry Xmas 🧑‍🎄
Leonard

PS I see @TomE is doing his own full group test! So will be back to see the fruits of his labour as an Evora GT410 is still most definitely a consideration Easter next year.
Sad to see you go Leonard but best of luck to you and I hope you find a car that makes you really happy! ☺️🙋‍♂️🤗

I'll say this, getting the Emira to me feels more like welcoming a new family member rather than buying a product... To me, the Lotus Emira is unique, there will be no other such ICE Lotus. Come to think of it, there is no issue--apart from it blowing up or losing my house--nor any other car out there that would keep me from getting the Emira... And I'm coming from an S2000 that I will sell. To me, it's either get the Emira or no sports car at all. 🕺 #LastICELotus #greatestLotus #savethemanuals

I’m so excited we picked a new color: GRAY!

Sorry you are having trouble getting your deposit back. No doubt the lack of original credit card is a red herring. I heard the woman who is responsible for refunds has been reassigned to building transmissions so they can get the cars out faster.

As soon as demand slows down, no doubt your check will be in the mail.
