Increased cabin noise with 3rd cat straight pipe?

I'm considering the popular mod of removing the 3rd Cat.

Does it significantly increase the cabin noise? One comment concerned me in saying that the increased noise drowns out the Super Charger noise -which I actually enjoy hearing.

Also does the old cat pipe fit in the boot to take some when it's replaced? (I assume everyone keeps them because of the value, and the option to fit back to standard later).

Yes it increases the cabin noise for sure. But, many folks feel like it’s the perfect amount of noise for a sports car. Loud enough without being obnoxious.

And yes that’s the drawback. Because it’s louder it takes away from the super charger whine. You can still hear it, just less than before

I think this is going to be very subjective and if you're really sensitive to noise, the best course of action is to take a ride in one with the 3rd cat delete to assess.

The exhaust note is more pronounced, but I don't feel it really adds that much more noise or drone. It also depends heavily on your throttle position.

Even with the exhaust valve wide open, at part throttle cruising, I do not find it intrusive at all. I can still maintain phone calls and conversations with my passenger.

I know it's a slippery slope but you really should add an intake in addition to the 3rd cat delete! It amplifies the induction and supercharger noises to match the increased volume of the 3rd cat. The car really shines with both of those modifications. Although, I will say, I could still clearly hear the supercharger with just the 3rd cat delete. Sure, less than OEM but it's still prominent.

Also, yes, you can easily fit the 3rd cat in the boot, no worries at all!

agree with @AK16 I'll also add that when you're on tour mode you can't really hear the 3rd cat delete so it's almost like stock. best of all worlds to have options in my mind.

I had VC installed prior to the 3rd cat delete. I think VC actually increased the volume much more than the cat delete if you have it always open. The cat delete makes the exhaust sounds deeper and throatier. You can also hear more pops.

yes, it makes a little increase in noise, I have that and the VC installed and I also removed the rear truck carpet for a little more noise.

Definitely some increase in cabin noise. The Milltek valve controller is a must IMHO when getting the decat pipe. With the valve controller it is much easier to modulate how much sound the exhaust makes in all driving modes. Compared to my straight pipe Evora the Emira is an EV when it comes to sound.
The decat really lets the deceleration burbles become more pronounced but seems about the same while highway cruising.
Can't say I feel a great power difference, but my "butt dyno" not what it used to be.
If you are worried about sound this may not be the mod for you

I find it slightly more bass than treble sounding, not particularly loader in touring mode.
I did not install a valve controller.

I did the 3rd cat delete and MiIltek VC at the same time. In touring mode with VC on OEM, it's still quiet to me and sounds similar to stock. With the VC in full open, the car takes on an entirely new personality sound-wise and that's how I tend to drive it exclusively unless I'm entering or exiting my neighborhood.

I haven't done an intake yet but that seems to be the next step from what I've heard on this forum. All that said, I HIGHLY recommend the VC + 3rd cat delete if you enjoy more sound. The car truly came alive and to me the throttle response sharpened up a bit but that's probably just because of the added noise
