U.S. Update: Allocation & Order Date

I spoke to my dealer. There is no FE for me. They mentioned only a little over 600 FE cars for all of North America. They said many deposit holders are skipping the FE and opting for the base edition. I didn't ask for specific numbers. They also confirmed a demo is coming.

Said two FE colors won't be offered in base, but doesn't think Verdant will be cut. I should expect to order a Base model sometime during the summer of 2022 for a 2023 Q2 delivery.
Interesting. If true I (and I bet half the forum) would love to know which.

I wrote about this elsewhere but while limited colours may have been a good idea if advertised as such off the bat. You don’t tell custimers the exact opposite (for those who asked Lotus about the FE or it’s colours being limited), once they’ve put money down and dreamed of getting their Emira in that colour for 7+ months. There’s a big emotional difference as a buyer between an advertised LE colour you want but know is limited and probably won’t get when you put your cash down and being told otherwise. Some have spent 7 months doing things like printing and framing a poster of their Emira in their office or getting a custom golf bag made in their spec colour etc. The colour is kind of a big thing and it’s something within their control unlike manufacturing issues and supply chain etc.

I did some math based on NA orders vs allocations and assuming each colour is equally popular that’s 28% of depositors who will be told to pick another colour. In my opinion, I’d like some transparency on exactly what drugs they had sat around smoking when they thought this would be a good idea and didn’t think people would throw hands. And, throw hands we should so that they fix this before it’s too late and get a competent decision maker in place when it comes to thing apart from building an amazing car.

What makes sense is to immediately inform deposit givers going forward in any market where it applies that it is for a base edition (this should have been done months ago), and what the colours of that will be and if they don’t have those ready that it will be these 4 FE colours plus 9 to be revealed for example.

And that is exactly why you are not getting any communications from lotus...

I can't beleive the amount of moaning this forum now gets. Clearly most complaining members have never tried to buy a car that is in such high demand, because what is experienced here is completly normal. Some people will be left out, some people will have to wait 2 years, some options will change along the way, the finance deals are NEVER great on a high demand car, price might go up.

That is the way things work. Supply and Demand, basic economy...

Unfortunately you don’t seem to understand corporate communications 101. There’s a difference between “moaning” because a product is delayed and a company making a deliberate decision to pull the rug on it’s customers. Try to distinguish what the “moaning” is about. They sent an e-mail late last summer saying we will reach out to you in the fall (2021) to confirm your spec, for now go to our configuration and pick out your options.

I think you are being a drama queen and that fuss is really exaggerated. You are 100% proving their point in not giving communications unless they are sure of what they are going to communicate. You are holding them accountable for their statements last year and the fact they were not able to stick to it

I guess we'll agree to disagree.

tx what was the facebook message i got a email from tom today ?
The one where Boardwalk clearly outlines their allocation and some next steps for their customers.

Good: They’re communicating with some specifics.

Bad: Still a lot of unknown items.

Overall I am still very much excited. Kind of half nervously excited and half eagerly excited. :)

First off, I’m not even a Leafs fan so theres no need for hostilities :).

Second, not accountable for timelines and supply chain issues, accountable for decisions that are well within their control and deliberate after promising otherwise and for no reason given thus far.

Third, I don’t think that this will have an affect on what I receive personally as a customer, but I know it definitely affects others. To be fully transparent I am a Geely shareholder and this is my professional area of expertise, and I can say with certainty they are making terrible corporate decisions or allowing information to get out without saying anything themselves which is even worse. You’ve said it yourself that people are moaning lately, If your customers are moaning that means there’s a problem.

Since we don't know if they're dropping 2 colors for sure, or which ones they might be, why are people getting upset at this point? If they ARE dropping 2 colors from the standard base list, might it not be the two least popular ones? Like Shadow Gray maybe and something else? And you do realize this is what the bespoke division is for? You'll still be able to get those 2 colors whatever they are, it will just be a bespoke option.

It may be a less popular option but say you're a "yellow" person and don't want any other colour. They should at least continue offering that colour if you made your deposit to this point, if it's through the "bespoken" option then that would be acceptable.

SO I have news. I just finally called my dealership prompted by news of 132 deposits being accepted (despite once again registering as interested in it online but then no communication that it's begun). Will call me back later with the guy who can take deposit.

All the dealership knows is that they are expecting about 15 FEs (which I understand were all made July 6, why some ppl who made a July 6 deposit in NA won't be able to get an FE while others who were mid August will is completely beyond me). They haven't contacted even #1 on the list for a build, they were promised info from Lotus constantly and haven't received anything. Doesn't think they'll start their orders until April. I can't understand why some dealerships have been given info and allowed to start putting in orders while others are being held back. I think the impression is that Lotus have given it to the dealers to handle which are the problem, when in reality it may be politics with "preferred" dealer relationships?

I did... my understanding is that they will receive 17 initially, followed by another 11 through the end of the year.

I put my deposit down July 12 and my impression at the time was that I was the first to do so, but I don't have confirmation of that. I have not been contacted to move forward with the process. Waiting / dealing with the lack of information is very frustrating.
Just spoke to Chuck at HI TECH, looks like I am #4 in line. I should be good

I didn't mean to create a fuss with reporting back that my dealer said two color are being dropped. I just wanted to post exactly what I heard and wondered if anybody else heard the same thing.

EDIT, accidently saved the post.

I was so excited about getting the FE in my spec, when I heard that two colors were being dropped I really had to just smoke a mental cigarette. Nothing is certain, I might even be faced with an ADM. This forum is passion, people are passionate about their cars. I love running into somebody at a car wash or gas station and talk cars. We go to my car and talk about it, then we go to their car and talk about it.

Now that I am in the BASE camp I am just being patient and optimistic because I have no idea what will be offered and at what price. But, nothing else out there gets me excited at the moment so here I am camped out at BASE camp.

While we all know some things could have been better this is a much needed dose of realism and common sense! 👍

Got an update yesterday from my dealer, Flow Lotus of Winston-Salem NC.

I'm confirmed for an FE, I'm well within their allocation cutoff. Deposit was secured July 10 of last year. Confirmed no ADM of any kind, transaction will proceed at MSRP. Apparently the owner of the dealer group is personally opposed to markup games, which I greatly appreciate and it reinforces my decision to buy from a smaller dealer in a non-metro setting.

Currently expecting a January 2023 delivery but it could vary by a month or so either way.

Altogether, great news.

May I ask if you know their allocation number?
