Update on the full Larini V6 exhaust system

Any idea what kind of increase to insurance this would make?
modifying exhaust? probably none

my experience with insuring a car with mods was I didnt have to pay anymore if I didnt want to. tho I opted to insure 5k worth of mods on my car. increased it just a little

Ha, had not even thought about that. I will ring up my company and find out. Good point!

Clearly, I cannot prove any power gains without a Dyno session but the car 'feels' measurably faster - a combo of noise, weight and likely power gains.
Of course, I wont mention that :D

Have we had a video yet? Have I missed it?

Not sure myself to be honest. If the car stays with me I do plan to take it to a lot more trackdays - it was brilliant.
One could keep it in Tour, or add a baffle in easily enough, if it fails on the day at a stringent place.
Was at Bedford yesterday and was with a mate in his gt3 rs, last time his exhaust was triggering the noise sensors, this time he fitted tips to direct the exhaust downwards, no black flags . So probably options for track use

Good to know B&C are happy to fit this upgrade, but I wonder about the warranty. Lotus Silverstone won't fit aftermarket upgrades to cars still under warranty.

That sounds a bit harsh. With my previous BMWs and VWs etc it was always the case that if the modficiation affected the part that failed, it would void the warranty on that part but that was it. i.e. if you fitted an exhaust but the suspension failed then the warranty would hold as its clearly unrelated.

The point is that it will void the warranty.
By law in the US they have to prove that the modification is directly related to whatever is wrong. They can't void it that easily.

Just me making a conclusion regarding my Lotus Approved Agent declining the fitting of the Larini product on the basis of my car being under warranty.

That doesn't mean anything specific, it just means they don't want to be party to any potential future problem.

I inquired with my dealer about fitting an exhaust, they contacted lotus, they initially said it would be fine. They then replied to my email saying it would void the warranty. 🤔

thats common. Dealers wont ever make after market changes, they will only work with OEM parts

it has more to do with protecting their own ass than anything else im guessing

Lotus Customer Service don't know their arse from their elbow and what they don't know they often make up! (instead of doing some research to find the answer). They said to me that servicing my Emira outside of the Lotus dealer network would instantly void the warranty. When I asked them to show me official documentation from the Lotus warranty that states this, they suddenly back tracked and said actually you can service outside the dealer as long as you meet Lotus stipulations, time/mileage, parts and oils etc. Therefore, to be sure, I would request an official copy of the terms of the Lotus warranty!

Anyone who bought a UK car got a copy of the warranty with their contract and sale documentation (or a link to download it).

I think agents in the UK are getting more sensitive about non-OEM mods because they are having difficult times with Lotus HQ on warranty work, even on unmodified cars.

In theory the warranty still applies to all the unmodified components. But Lotus seem to be looking for reasons to disallow warranty work.
