Anyone received their 30 day notification yet?

I understand all the things going on that are affecting the situation, as a result, I'm able to be patient. The only way Lotus could really 'let me down' is if they stopped producing the Emira completely before making mine, and decided to start the electric cars earlier than planned. I know that's not going to happen so I'm hanging in there.

Honestly, nothing from Lotus lets me down nearly as much as the toxic negativity I see in the forum. It rips all the fun out of reading things in here, hence why I don't come in here nearly as often as I used to, and steadily post less and less.

Funny perspective. I’ve seen zero toxic negativity, but I must confess to wearing rose tinted glasses and having a distinctly British sense of humour.

clearly some people are pissed with ongoing delays but that feels fair enough

On the bright side the cars are finally rolling out so there will be much more positivity going forward. Or is that my glasses again?!

This is true on all forums. For example, I constantly battle my Penn state Bros who are cool with 10-2 but with annual losses to M and OSU. Beating Rutgers pleases me not.

are you sure you're not Matt W????
You are a Lotus champion, nothing they do is bad in your book, you will hang in there until the end, stick with them....
It sounds to me as if your life, or at least your job, depended on it haha.

just kidding.... its good at least one person on here is staying strong through and through.... not like that bloody leonard...very fickle ... interest rates up and down and hes gone, a weeks delays and hes gone, a mm wider wheel gap and hes gone, a red line 10 revs lower and hes gone..the list goes.... gone...
Again, its good to know at least one person will be happy no matter what..... but seriously, when you get to the office on Monday, can you get them to send my next email in the series of checkout ones please, pretty please :)

Hey, we need to balance things out. If we only had @Leonard s, we would all be needing some medication!

Hopefully all people you mention gone is really gone

Meanwhile the forum remain with 90% users which already made the decision to not buying it and charging all negative stuff around

And is not a fault to be positive like eagle, but cmon , I remember the 1000 messages in the past complaining about it the blue cap tap on the motor ,

The bad things are doing lotus are common knows for everybody , and we know we can’t do nothing more , but this forum is a pain in the ass for the people really want and wait patiently for the car

Thanks ... I think! I cancelled my Eletre deposit because it was looking like a re-run of the Emira pre-launch customer care all over again, plus it's huge. But I appreciate the sentiment.

I hope I've helped fill some of the comms gap left by Lotus, shared some of the highs (and pitfalls) of Lotus ownership and encouraged a few people to place deposits or stick with it. The Lotus Community is a big part of owning a Lotus car and I hope this forum (mostly) mirrors that community spirit.
Yep this forum serves as a great stress relief for us all! I'm with you. I was seriously considering putting a deposit on an Eletre but decided against it 1)because I'd be tying up another $5k for at least a year, 2)I'm not impressed with the lack of organized coms and finally 3)the seeming lack of concern for long-time loyal Lotus folks who put their deposits in early yet seem to be getting passed over. I'm not in a rush so I'm leaving my deposit in on the Emira. I love this car and other than the Porsche which is a dime a dozen here in Calif there isn't anything else I want in my garage! Hopefully Lotus will be able to kick up their production and start pushing out cars next year!

I was 14th July deposit, manual, Nov build. Just got the March email too. Fortunately got an early deposit in on the 992T. Shame though, really wanted to support a ‘British’ company
Me too, but this is more of a Chinese company now.

This is a great forum. I feel as though everyone here even those that opted out had a small place in the heart for the Emira. Let's face it, this a special little car. Are there other special cars, yes! But this fits in that category. A very diverse mix of people here will continue this conversation and eventually in a few years we will be talking about variants. Take a break from the forum when you have to, this has been and will continue to be a great place to talk cars.

You are not alone in feeling that way my friend. I'm sure many are weary of all the negativity. Really, with everything going on in the world, if all you can do is whinge about your £80k sports car being late, or someone else having moved up the queue slightly faster than you, it is time to zoom out and gain a bit of perspective.

Forums are a strange place. Only 20% of the people who visit here are signed up as members and only about half of the members have posted. We have maybe 50 very active members, who visit and post regularly. The people who post are therefore the tip of a very big iceberg of silent readers. It can be a bit of an echo chamber - people reinforce a thread, post or line of reasoning and new or counter views are less common.

On most forums (particularly car-related ones) you'll see a disproportionate number of posts are about problems or concerns. Over on the Evora forums for example, you'll find load of posts about electrical gremlins, LED and AC failures, clutch replacement and so on - that doesn't mean the Evora is an unreliable or fault-prone car, just that when people have a problem they will search and post about it. The people who haven't got a problem are usually too busy out enjoying their cars to post about it, but will often chip in to say "I had that problem and this is how I solved it".

On here we have a slightly different skew: a forum for a car that lots of people want but very few own and not many have seen or driven. And that against a backdrop of major disruption in the whole industry and in other sectors and economies. So inevitably we get a higher proportion of posts about the delays and frustrations than we do about the joys of ownership.

The broader perspective is that the vast majority of people seem to be OK with what's happening - we could have 10x the membership and 10x the number of grumbling posts, but we don't. Those people are the silent majority - or someone could stick up a poll and see if they'll show themselves.

The small but vocal minority that do post range from the enthusiastic through the curious and undecided right across to the negative and critical. All those views are equally valid. Being annoyed about how you're treated when you're trying to hand over £80k is a valid topic for discussion, particularly if it helps others also understand how they might be treated as a customer.

Alongside some of the negative posts, we have some joyous ones. Learning more about this brilliant little car and the heritage, skill and commitment that has brought it to life. Reading the feedback from the first few lucky owners. Reading the impressions of people excitedly getting to test drive the car for the first time and comparing it against their previous (and very diverse) car driving and ownership. Plus new "online friends" and a few "personalities"! With first UK customer deliveries starting and UK test drives about to kick off, the floodgates on the first-hand experience kinds of posts are about to open.

If you're frustrated or annoyed by some of the negative posts, can I suggest you add constructive and balanced counterpoint or scroll past. You can block specific posters and there are threads you can avoid (we're looking into an "ignore thread" option too). Threads about the UK sale, deposit, checkout, delivery and test drive processes can have a skew towards negativity but also have useful updates about the process - you can make a choice about reading them or not. The threads about "second thoughts", alternatives to the Emira and cancellations are probably ones to avoid if you want to steer clear of some of the frustration, uncertainty, doubt and concern being expressed by some people. This thread is probably also one to skip over, as it's become the main focus for frustrations about delays and poor customer care.

If you want to read the positive stuff, head over to these two threads, which cover the heart of what really matters and why we're all here (and why some of us are frustrated not to have our cars or a test drive yet) - a brilliant car that stirs the emotions and most of us can't wait to own:

Great post Tom, thanks for this.

I concur that all views should be equally valid, and we should encourage them to be expressed. I personally really enjoy reading the counterpoint views put forward by some even though I totally disagree with the views themselves!

Perhaps I’ve always been a bit odd 😃

Just had an update from the lovely people at customer care. They confirmed my build and delivery unchanged, which I find very hard to believe given the number of deliveries so far against the numbers in the Harry’s Garage video. I had hoped it was ‘the call’ to start the checkout process but no.

Re the infamous demo’s email I was told the ‘original’ plan was to space out the emails but that was changed and they all went out together - no reason given. As I and a number of other pre reveal depositors still havent even had an email, I pointed out that was not correct and I understand that test drives are booked out. Given that I was assured I would get a drive before committing I asked what would happen if I couldn't get the demo and I wanted to delay the car until I could. I was told that they hadnt had that yet so didnt know!! You might think someone in the management would have thought about that surely?

I then asked if I wanted to delay the car until I could get the demo would I be kicked in 2024? I was told they didnt know but if it could be delayed I would be charged storage!!!! So they are 7 months late and if I want to delay a month or two because they cocked up the demo process and they now charge me.

After all the mess ups with bookings , deposits and now reports of demo’s being held up with ECU warning lights, window seals having to be relocated and failed steering servo, I would love to ask Lotus who actually is in charge of the Emira project, it smacks of a project being controlled by multiple groups with zero cohesion.

Apologies if this has been covered somewhere in the previous squillion pages of this thread, but does anyone know at what point in the build process Lotus send the checkout email? It doesn’t sound like anyone in the November build/December delivery batch has had this yet, and given that we are already halfway through November, I'm starting to think my December delivery is more likely to be January

I've just had a test drive today and while there, enquiries were made to see if my Nov build / Dec delivery is still accurate, which it is so hopefully you / anyone else in that group will hear something (I dont want to use the word but have to...) "soon" :)
