Unipart are doing the transport. BCA at Upper Heyford are handling the PDIs and storage and inbound/outbound logistics. They've got plenty of space!

I assume Lotus are just giving a generic timeframe - build in Oct, deliver in Nov - but the reality will probably be delivery within 1-2 weeks of completing build. It'll be a bit longer if you go for factory collection, not because they have to take the cars to BCA and back for PDI (which they will do) but because there is limited bandwidth to do Hethel collections and it's turned out to be a popular option.

Hi Tom, so with me collecting my car from Lotus Silverstone, it really cannot take long from Upper Heyford as it is only about 20 miles away.

I guess it depends how they batch cars up for transport and do the distribution.

It might be "it's Tuesday so let's drop cars at Silverstone today" or it might be "now we've got one transporter full for Silverstone so let's go there today".

We don't know if home delivery will come on a single transporter or they'll have 2 or more to do on a route that day.

From what Lotus told me, it would be reasonable to expect a dealer or home delivery within 2 weeks of build completion but it could be quicker or slower due to multiple factors.

Thank you for the information Tom. You really are the encyclopedia of all things Lotus.😁👍

It would have been nice to collect the car from Hethel. But for me it is 200 miles away, and a drag of a drive. Lotus Silverstone is 95 miles, much better.

I said Factory collection originally but assume at my 30 day call I can cancel that (as I'm sure many will) as I've lost interest in it (mostly the Factory collection, a little in the car) and also I'm not prepared to give them a penny more than necessary. They can drop it on my drive thanks.

That's right, delivery/collection is confirmed as part of that 30 day process and you can change from what you previously indicated.

Agreed, I cannot work out that they can deliver anywhere in the country within the cost. But if you collect from the factory they have the check to charge another £195. You can only imagine it would cost more than that to deliver to Craig Moncrieff Cars in Edinburgh for example.🤔

Thanks Tom, great info.
I wonder how much of a handover we will get from the transport company for home delivery.

My daughter had a new electric car delivered to me at home earlier this year as she was at work and I said to the delivery guy, I don't know anything about electric cars and he said "Handbook is on the passenger seat with the spare key, everything you need to know is in there, charging lead is in the boot. Got to get going, Bye!" :ROFLMAO:

I wonder when the Emira handbook will be available? Have you heard anything? I am hoping that there will be an electronic version for download as I would like to study it before taking deivery of the car. I assume that they will have to be sure that they have made any final changes to the car before they sign off the finished version, but it would be really nice to have something.
If you, or any other forum members don't have any info, I will e.mail CS and ask the question and post the reply on the forum.

I asked the question regarding quality of the handover and was told that it would be exactly the same as the factory/a dealer. I'll believe it when I see it!

I did consider a home delivery, but chose dealer collection instead as i thought home delivery would not get the full handover experience. The Emira is not a long way from an Elise, for example, where there is not much to show you round. The Emira is completely different. I don't know about anyone else, but I would like the full handover experience.

Press some buttons, you won't break it.
Well hopefully you won't 😉😅
Not much to it

Dont you have Lotus birmingham. / solihull even closer...... Ive spoken to them, they seem like a decent bunch... actually very decent, if I were you I would go there, I think I will.
I was going factory, but again, its 200 miles and 3 hours and now I have been there, the novelty has warn a little thin.

Yes there is Rybrook Lotus Birmingham only 52 miles away. But i have been going to Silverstone for many years now and I get on well with everyone there. Besides, it is only 16.50 on the train to Northampton, and they collect you from the station. How about that for service.

Well i am not prepared to take that chance. I want a proper handover.
Thanks Tom, great info.

When I was on the factory tour I spoke with Scott walker. He told me that they were working with BCA on the car deliveries. He said the cars would be covered and delivered individually with a white glove handover. It was BCA employees who were going to be trained on the cars to complete the handover.

I've been told the handover will be the same for all three options. One of the constraints on how many can have a factory collection each day is they want to do the handovers individually rather than in groups.

I've not heard about the handbook, so that would be a good question to ask LCC. I know the dealers are starting to get some online training on the car and the handover process, which they say is good, so customers might get some online stuff.
