Sounds good. Did you need new gaskets and bolts, to fit the Sports Cat, my local Lotus service centre, says that it would need them?Just fitted this
Took a few hours (the hardest part was figuring out how to get the oem downpipe out) the sound is incredible and my power in the performance display now goes up to 420HP FROM 381HP
The only gripe is the mounting to the side plate with the notch and two bolts is 25mm out, i will try and fit some spacer tube and longer bolts, other than that no CEL and car pulls like a train with explosive cracks on gear change.
The car now just goes and goes to redline i’m very impressed with the additional throttle response
I have a miltek valve controller fitted, with the valve set to open the noise on start up is loud and powerful the exhaust pops and crackles when the gas pedal is blipped in park.
No direct unbolt and rebolt there are no gaskets to replace?Sounds good. Did you need new gaskets and bolts, to fit the Sports Cat, my local Lotus service centre, says that it would need them?
Thanks, I don’t know much about working on cars. When I asked the Lotus service centre, about fitting the cat for me, they quoted me well over £2000, which included removing the turbo, replacing the gaskets and bolts. My brother who does most of his own car stuff, thought, removing the turbo was unnecessary, and all that was required was to do as you had described i.e unbolt and rebolt. No direct unbolt and rebolt there are no gaskets to replace?
You don’t need to remove the turbo. We removed part of the turbo to get the cat out, but I’m told you can do it without even doing that. Thanks, I don’t know much about working on cars. I also only un clamped the hot side of the turbo, it made removal easy. You don’t need to remove the turbo. We removed part of the turbo to get the cat out, but I’m told you can do it without even doing that.
The circled part can be removed, then the cat can be removed through the access panel in the trunk, without removing any of the turbo. This is what I was told, not what we did when fitting my cat.
Cheers, I appreciate the reply from you, and lynchy 73, this will be useful to know when I come to have the cat fitted.I also only un clamped the hot side of the turbo, it made removal easy.
Have your brother fit it and you help, i’m sure you will enjoy the experience and also give you a better insight of the vehicle, it will take you a few hours only especially as you have the benefit of information from people who fitted there own, i fitted it cold without any instructions on the floor without ramps, i only jacked up the rhs rear wheel.Cheers, I appreciate the reply from you, and lynchy 73, this will be useful to know when I come to have the cat fitted.
That’s what I meant say I didn’t do the job myself, was just keeping an eye whilst others did the job.I also only un clamped the hot side of the turbo, it made removal easy.
Funny, that’s what my brother suggested, we fit it, and we’ll learn more about the car. Was borderline on whether we should or not a but now I think we’ll give it ago. Thanks again guys for helping out.Have your brother fit it and you help, i’m sure you will enjoy the experience and also give you a better insight of the vehicle, it will take you a few hours only especially as you have the benefit of information from people who fitted there own, i fitted it cold without any instructions on the floor without ramps, i only jacked up the rhs rear wheel.
I confidently can say that i would be able to do the job again in under 2 hours with the knowledge of doing it before.
I did mine off of ramps. I took the hot side of the turbo off as well, but that was a nightmare getting the clamp back on due to the turbo coolant pipes being right next to where the clamp needs to sit. I'd definitely be trying to leave that on and going down the other suggested route. Its all worth doing through, the car sounds amazing now. The pops and bangs are crazy. Hi I was chatting to my brother about fitting the Sports Cat, he wanted me to ask, as I don’t have a coder reader/remover atm, does it cause a fault code? ThanksI did mine off of ramps. Hey. The sport cat does throw fault code (P0420), which I am currently working on a fix for. That's the only code coming up and is pretty common when de-catting or changing to a sports cat. I'm hoping an O2 spacer will fix it, if not I'll work on other fixes. You should buy a code reader as your probably going to get codes in the future and its good to see what they are are and clear them, before taking the trip to Lotus.Hi I was chatting to my brother about fitting the Sports Cat, he wanted me to ask, as I don’t have a coder reader/remover atm, does it cause a fault code? The GRP Exhaust and Downpipe make a huge difference to the sound. The sound from the exhaust is always going to be 'similar' based on the fact its gases from the same engine and the exhausts are all very similar design with similar pipe lengths. It's also really hard to hear how good any of the aftermarket exhausts sound in videos. I have the GRP titanium exhaust with Milltek Valve Controller and it makes a huge difference. Check out this video for an idea of sound difference during idle.Wondering if anyone has any before and after videos of the exhaust enhancement on the I4. It is hard for my ear to hear a big difference between my stock i4 and some of the after videos. A side by side would be great. I think it will be something I want to do after break in but being my first proper sports car... not sure what sound I can expect form a 3rd cat delete VS downpipes...vs more invasive enhancement or how much of a difference each option would make. Sorry for showing my ignorance on this topic but would love to understand/hear the sound impact of the different options.

Cheers, that clears that up. I think the pops and bangs need a little enhancement, so looking forward to getting mine fitted.Hey. The sports cat or a de-cat pipe is definitely worth it, the pops and bangs are mental. Changes the whole experience. Although, these pops and bangs do disappear when a code is thrown.
