USA/Canada Delivery Thread

Exactly. It'll pass. It's the same exact powetrain as the Evora, which obviously passed and sold in the states for years and years. Lotus just needs to jump through some hoops for the new model certification. Everything is a process. Could Lotus have been more efficient and handled this sooner? Probably, yes.
To be fair, the concern in my view is passing EPA Tier 3 Bin 160 regulations for new models introduced for the 2024 model year. The Tier 3 regs required a "ratchet" of tightening emissions every year between 2016 and 2025. The Evora met Tier 3 Bin 160 for MY2021, but the same drivetrain in the Emira might not meet "new model" intro baseline for the same tier for MY2024.

Wasn’t that why Lotus reduced the redline so they could meet emission targets? Also why the I4 is part of the strategy as it offers emissions significantly lower than the V6 to meet ever tightening global standards?

Just spotted a car in Los Angeles in Dark Verdant at Olympic and Veteran. First time I've actually seen the car. Galpin demo car I assume?

Since I haven’t had a test drive or have seen the Emira in person, I am heading to Hethel for a factory tour and hopefully at least get a ride in, if not drive, the Emira in the UK. Per my dealer, I won’t be ordering until October.

Hopefully there is a train we can take from London to Hethel. Looking forward to seeing where these beautiful cars are built.

How was it? I might be looking for a verdant color but I heard it's pretty dark so I'm debating the green or nimbus grey

Personally, I do not care for the Green, but that's just me. It was not too dark, but that being said, it was extremely bright and sunny out, so it probably will look way different at night/in low light conditions.

I did that trip back in June. I did the into to sports cars so got to drive on the track. I initially asked if it was possible to just go on an extended test drive. Was told I need to choose one of the 'track' events. Maybe I shouldve coordinated with a dealer nearby instead but kinda wanted to drive the track too. (its expensive though and harder to coordinate your trip around the day). At least I got to drive a LHD car.
Just getting a ride may be easier/free.
I was foolishly optimistic when planned the trip a year advance when my car was supposed to be built.
I took the train from Kings Cross to Wymondham. Got a cab from there to hotel/Lotus/train. Easy but coordinate cab in advance.

Everyone can just chill, the Emira will be EPA and CARB certified. No need to get all wound up over some chatgpt copy paste from Tokion.

Just making sure that everything herin is respectful and does not violate forum rules? Everything I wrote are my own words, and no “chatgpt copy paste” whatsoever was involved. My inspiration came from the piece from “Lotus of Naples” (posted in this forum via TomE) that clearly stated that the Emira V6 has not yet passed CARB, but hinted that this issue is expected to be cleared by December, so that US deliveries can begin at that time. I was attempting to be helpful by explaining that Emira V6 becoming approved as CARB compliant will be helpful for all US customers.
Stig Bjorge (Tokion)

PS. The reason I have added “V6” here is that the CARB process is separate for each engine type and separate version of a car. The I4 (2.0 turbo) will have to go through the same process independently.

We did that in March and its an easy trip. Regular direct trains run from London (Liverpoool St. Station) to Norwich. Then grab a cab in Norwich for a short ride to Hethel.

Lotus did apply for US certification some time ago but there were issues with paperwork so it was rejected. They then had to redo it. The problem was that they then had to start the process from the beginning and from what I can gather they then go to back of the queue and start from the beginning.
It’s probably still a couple months till approval.
Then once approved there will be a ton of cars that will be delivered.
It’s been a complete shit show but in the end and once customers get their/ our cars we will all be happy and very quickly forget about all the negative stuff we all have posted on this forum in the last two years.
I for one cannot wait to get my car. Hopefully in first batch in December if not then January. Will I be happy NO but I’ll deal with it. Will I bitch and complain yes but just because I can.
Will be ecstatic when I get the car and drive the shit out of it as much as possible

Thanks for the information! I am pretty excited about the factory tour and I am hoping seeing the cars will also help with deciding what spec I want to order.

I did the factory tour last July... train from Liverpool station to Norwich and a cab ride to Hethel as well; What a great day. Our tour was led by Guy, and we did the Heritage and Factory tour combo. You won't be disappointed... please report back to where in production efficiency the seem to be when you go!

Well that's gross. Is there a way to modify it back to normal? Is it just exhaust mods or is there anything else that I would have to fix?
The open valves for sport and track mode. California emissions doesn’t allow them. Will be interesting to see how Lotus works around that.

I'm in a similar boat, yet trying to look at the bright side - that Lotus will have more time working out their quality issues, and maybe will offer more options like "Lane Change - Blind Spot Assist", or upgraded seats with a little more bolstering, etc.....
Same here. Likely upgrade is the blind spot monitor in the mirrors. I would also appreciate a digital rear view mirror. You can’t see shit out the back in the mid engines. Maybe parking cameras in the front and sides too. Little things like that. Not terribly expensive, or heavy 😉

The open valves for sport and track mode. California emissions doesn’t allow them. Fairly certain that will destroy the exhaust note and basically ruin the car’s drivability on anything other than a parking lot.

Again weird misinformation from the US people.

- All US Emiras are 50 state compliant.
- Sport and Track modes direct exhaust to a more direct route through the muffler and make it louder.
- Mufflers have no impact on emissions — they muffle sound not emissions.
- CARB is the governing California emissions regulatory body and regulated emissions not sound.
- Federal EPA, State Vehicle Code, and Local county/city ordinances set regulations around sound volume from your car.

How long of a train ride ?

London Liverpool St to Norwich is around an hour and three quarters by train - can be a bit quicker sometimes as some trains stop less often at intermediate stations.,..

Where are you getting this? There's no blanket California ban on valved exhaust. Tons of vehicles sold in California have them, including almost all new BMWs.
