USA/Canada Delivery Thread

Just a thought... if you're stopped from taking pictures you might consider;
  • asking the tour guide to take it for you, ensuring that nothing that shouldn't be photographed is in the picture
  • asking a manager on duty to take it for you
  • taking a close-up picture of the headlight module only
  • taking a picture of the headlight modules in a parts bin
At least we'll know what the orange bit looks like.
Wander the parking lot of finished cars, pretending you forgot where you left yours.

I believe “KitKat” took this photo.
Where and when did you take this?
I saw NO amber strips on any headlights on any of the 200+ cars I looked at

Depending on price and if US will not deliver the part number. I’ll get non-orange lights for mine out of the Middle East.

The GT4 also has those headlights, but they’re produced somewhere else?

A number of years ago I was on a factory tour. If I remember it was the Gibson guitar factory in Memphis. We were told multiple times that there was to be no photography and that we couldn't use our cell phones and should turn them off. About halfway through the tour, one guy's phone rang and he answered it. Within a minute security was on him and escorted him and his daughter away. He protested that he was only turning off his phone but they came down on him like a ton of bricks. He protested but there was no discussion, they just booted him. I have to admit I was surprised how strict and fast they were. Seemed a bit like a crazy overreaction but nobody asked my opinion, LOL.

Ah yeah that would be just terrible
Maybe not terrible, but pretty embarrassing to have to be removed because of not following simple instruction.

Trust me I would love to get pictures but also respect their desire of not having the production area pictures.

I’m here waiting

Did 3 oil changes this weekend. 1 Italian, 1 British and 1 Japanese. Have you ever had to use tweezers to get small rock stones out of the undercarriage? That's how my weekend was spend. At least the weather held out.

Hopefully that bloke will report back some good news. The one thats doing the factory tour today.

US car production is in full swing.

US cars are being produced along side other LHD , RHD and China cars.

As said before they are producing 40 cars per day across two shifts , Monday - Thursday. Not all for US Market. But could crank out 700 cars in 20 days or so , more if they wanted to add more shifts.

They have every single color to see , I’m still very happy with my choice of nimbus. Atlantic blue is a great color would be an amazing color if it were closer to purple. The white and grey are a bit bland for a car with the lines of the emira.

So as far and US delivery dates, no one would confirm but it’s clear that they are fully aware of the type approval issue and in a bit of a waiting pattern.

Based on what I saw they are running a well oiled machine at this point the factory workers are just moving along assembling cars.

Many of the teething issues have been resolved so I see the delays as a blessing given our poor dealer network would rather minimize dealer work.

I’m very happy I came and saw it with my own eyes, met the manufacturing engineer who was a prior McLaren manufacturing engineer. He was staying at the old thorn barn. Great discussion with him.

As expected pictures were not allowed.

I’m leaving happy and with a few lotus merch items I bought at the retail store.

Thank you for the update. How much sterling pounds did Lotus slip in your pocket to post this? Only kidding.

Curious.... You saw the US Spec cars with your own eyes? Or it was just communicated to you? Based on history, I trust one more than the other.

Edit: You state you saw with your own eyes. 👍🏼

Thanks for the update!
