USA/Canada Delivery Thread

Wow! When did you finalize your order (what month)? I finalized mine in Sept.
August I submitted the order officially. Depositor since 2021. I missed the 1.0 cutoff by one order.

I’d want a professional to fix that not a dealer personally.
Pretty sure dealers are well equipped for paint correction, pretty standard. If you’re buying from an exotic dealer that doesn’t care about cars, you chose the wrong dealer.

Not all Lotus dealers in the US are exotic dealerships, or connected with one. I believe the one I'm buying through is a side business for a Cadillac dealer and uses their dealer services and infrastructure.

Most of us “chose” whichever dealer could get us an early reservation and allocations to match.

We’re also talking about paint correction here not detailing — exotic dealerships don’t have paint correction specialists employed on hand, at best they may have an arrangement with a local paint correction specialist.

I’m hoping that spending $100k on a vehicle that I don’t need paint correction beyond what’s necessary for application of PPF.

Your first Lotus? Maybe the new assembly line and automation of the paint booth helps, but the 400s were rough

You would be very very very VERY surprised.

Fresh out of the paint booth, a car's paint could have a variety of issues that require correcting. This could include dust specks, bubbles, streaks, runs, orange peel, etc. The factory *USUALLY* does a pretty good job of correcting these to perfection, but everyone can have an off day, and it's not guaranteed. It's common for factory-fresh cars to need paint correction for the listed issues.

During transport, there can be a variety of mishaps that cause minor scratches, chips, and swirl/haze that get added to the paint. Look at the the photos of the US cars that were recently delivered in Florida: they are covered by a fine layer of dirt. *ANY* contact with that paint surface will result in the dirt grinding fine scratches into the paint.

At the dealer, they subject the paint to further damage: washing with old/dirty cloth, questionable washing/drying procedure that doesn't minimize contamination, and any waxes/sprays they put on at the end to give it an extra shine. Anytime you touch the paint, you add swirl marks. Poor quality products/cloths/pads/techniques add more swirl marks than necessary. When I picked up my AMG GT53, a car that was well over 100k from Mercedes of Manhattan, they had "cleaned" the paint with an orbital buffer as part of pre-delivery prep and added a ton of fine swirl marks. They were proud to tell me this because this was somehow deemed as a luxurious extra touch. From experience, the swirls were fine enough to not be a major issue and my detailing guy corrected it with a light buffing all over the car.

Granted, I'm a little OCD when it comes to stuff like this, but I want to keep my nice things nice for as long as I can.

You did notice the cat climbing on the new $100k cars, right? 😕

I plan on, and budgeted for, professional detailing on my brand-new car. But hope for the best!

Back to the delivery topic...I'm hoping to see more dealer delivery pics today! Anyone have the latest intel on the 3rd boat coming to Baltimore? I haven't had time to dig through the various sites as of late.

Just catching up, it's crazy how different DV shows up across all of the pictures I've seen online. And I don't think any actually looks like it having made the trip to Hethel to see it in person

I checked Facebook briefly this morning; nothing yet. I too was hoping to be greeted with photos of hundreds of Emiras getting delivered this morning. :p

Too soon for a third boat. We don't even have a second boat yet. The only batch we know of is the first 150.

Hey
I mentioned that on other groups already but maybe some of you have photos of this combo . My dealership called me with 95k$ first edition option while I’m waiting for my base model . I like everything on that spec beside the interior . Does anyone of you have this spec or have photos how does that actually looks ?

Now similiar spec would cost 107k $
McDonald spec : yellow , red interior , black pack , red calipers . First edition

Thanks .

Exactly how are we tracking which boats are arriving when with which cargo? The first ship arrived unannounced but for a Lotus employee photo posting.
Asking for a friend.

For the first shipment, we were given a narrow range of dates on when the cars would arrive, so we kind of took a guess on which ship it was. For the other shipments, we really don't know which ship it would be on or when they will arrive. There are numerous ships that travel between Southampton and Baltimore, pretty much one arrives every day or every couple of days.

Unless Lotus gives us information in advance, we would find out when the shipping manifest is published online by one of the handful of websites that makes this info available.
