Anyone here track their Emira? If so, did you track the car 100% stock or did you upgrade parts? Particularly interested if you changed out the brake fluid, pads, tires, etc.

What is co s

What is considered high speed track? I think the most I’ve hit on my GT was 145 down to 30 or 40
If you are going from 140 into a hairpin turn that is going to be hard on your brakes lap after lap. Kind of a judgement call and depends on how aggressively you drive. If you’re asking the question I have to assume that you’ll likely be on the less aggressive side and are probably still ok. you’ll just get squishy pedals and may decide to retire earlier than running all day. What’s the track? Maybe others with specific experience can chime in.

Ah, gotcha. NJMP - the thunderbolt track

Who else has tracked their Emira on a stock setup? Debating on whether one should change ‘almost new’ brake fluid.
I tracked mine (sport with F1, 2.0 AMG). I trashed the brake pads in 20 mins. Still had brakes, but nearly new pads looked a bit of a mess and lost 50% or more on the front pads (not a high speed track, max speed circa 100mph), but I was breaking like I was in a track car.

2nd stint I went easier on the brakes and it held up ok. I’d say standard pads are just about ok, if you take it easy on them, but will fall apart quick if you stamp on them hard. F1 tyres were pretty good, but will change them out to Cup2 for next outing.

Changing out to Endless pads and race fluid for my next track day. The Emira was great on track, was really happy with it.

I’ve done 4 track days this season with the Emira on a stock setup. No issues with brake fluid. It all depends on the track - for the Emira, I have only had time to take it to Blackhawk Farms (a short, technical track).

@Blackthought_ The stock fluid will be fine, have ran a few sessions in middle east summer and it held up without a problem. The pads as others have mentioned will wear quickly. I say get out there with it stock and have some fun!

Agreed, the stock brakes aren’t bad. Just go a bit easy on them and they are fine. Even when I was pushing them harder than I should, they still worked and never let me down. For the next 25 minute session I braked gentler and they worked fine and are still working fine.

Actually the rears are fine and are not worn down much at all. It’s the fronts that took the beating and kind of started to fall apart in small chunks. I’m swapping them out this week and will take some pics and post them up.

Recently I’ve been driving in dedicated track cars to do my race license. Those cars had brakes you could abuse all day with not a grumble.

Nice. You used stock fluid too? No brake fade?

Yes, totally standard brakes and fluid. Sport suspension, with Goodyear F1. Tyres were pretty good and brakes weren’t bad at all. If I’d gone a bit gentler on the brakes, they would be totally fine. They were still stopping me but you could tell they weren’t happy.

Next stint I braked gentler and they handled it fine, didn’t get crazy hot or show any significant additional wear. Disks seem fine, rear pads are fine, just front pads have worn down more than 50% and look a bit of a mess.

I read the front pads are brembo, rears are AP.

I did an Autocross event on Saturday and a track day at COTA on Sunday. My Emira has the Sport suspension and Cup2 tires with stock brake pads and fluid. It performed really well even when the track temperatures reached 100 degrees. I was impressed by how well it did in stock form. If I decide to track it more, I would lower it and firm up the suspension.

Someone said the front pads are brembo, rears are AP. Don’t know if it’s true or not.
Nice! I know there are a few vendors that are trying to make some pads for the Emira as there is not really a market for them right now

Here are my pads after 1 hard session and a second session with gentler braking.

What are the recommendations regards oil changes when you regularly track your road car? I’ve got a 400hp I4, so it’s a fairly high stressed engine.

BTW, my discs (front I guess) are vibrating pretty bad after I’d swapped in the Endless MX72 front pads. Tried to rebed them, but it’s not really helping. I suspect the OEM pads had left lots of residue on the discs, but hard to know exactly what’s up and what exactly caused it (I didn’t let them cool down enough). The brakes weren’t 100% before I did the front pad swap, but they are definitely worse after the pad swap (and a few sessions). Bringing the car to Lotus, hopefully they can clean up the discs.

Today I had the front discs skimmed, fitted the rear Endless MX72 pads and swapped in some Endless brake fluid.

Gonna lightly bed in the discs, but so far it seems like the vibration is gone. I suspect the deposits on the front discs primarily came from the OEM pads.

Rear OEM pads are shown below, as well as the disc skimming. So happy to get it fixed. Had to drive 200km back from the track. Wheel was shaking at 70mph plus due to balance issue and brakes vibrated when I touched them, the car felt totally shagged

Just returned from a track day at Summit Point and have some comments and observations. For background I have raced formula cars and sports racing cars for many years and am very familiar with the track. In the first session I went out with the stock tire pressures 29 front, 32 rear. After the session the tires were 35 front and 40 rear. I was shocked, but I don’t really have experience with driving a car this heavy….formula car would increase 2-3 psi. The rear of the car moved around a lt under breaking. Dropped the pressures to 32-34 hot and the car was generally much better but still squirrelly in the rear. Has anyone else had a pressure increase of this magnitude?
With the rear moving around so much my first thought is there is too much rear brake bias. Not adjustable as far as I know. Anyone else have this issue? In general the car is pretty neutral and turns in well. I have the touring suspension and different shocks and some shock tuning could substantially increase the handling qualities on the track.

Let us know how you like the Endless pads and fluid. I have a friend who swears by both.

I have the Cup2 tires, and I noticed the same increase in tire pressure when I was out at COTA last week. My rear tire pressures cold were 32 psi, and after a session, they jumped up to almost 39 psi. I didn't notice much movement under hard braking. My car is fitted with the Sports suspension.
