Being younger than both you old guys:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:, I completely understand where Lotus is going with the sale model. I fully agree it is the right choice. Any marquee that stays with the current sales model will quickly be surpassed by the ones that evolve quicker. Millennials and future generations will have no problem buying a car on their phone while having lunch at a cafe. I explained this to a friend of mine the other day as such;

When I was in university and needed to write an essay on a topic this is what would happen
1. Get dressed
2. Drive/Bus/Walk to the library
3. Go through the catalogue system to find the required reading material
4. Hopefully the book wasn't checked out - if so I would have to go to a different library or find alternate sources
5. Read / research and write the essay.

Today - roll out of bed, make a coffee in my pyjamas, turn on the laptop and google the subject, and write the essay.(not exactly but you get the picture)

The archaic dealer network causes many more issues for the customer than solves. Don't get me wrong, do I enjoy the process and chatting with the people at the dealer and making relationships. Yes, I do. But that is because I went to the library as a young person. The buyers of today/tomorrow could care less about building those types of relationships and more importantly the new employees at the dealership have no idea on how to curate those relationships either. Socially it is worse. Economically and financially it is far better.

On the other side, I recognize that luxury brands i.e. rolls Royce etc. will always maintain the relationship aspect of doing business. It is important too few, but not the masses. It is unfortunate, but the relationships you talk about will soon become a luxury item for the very few.
I dont even maintain a relationship with my g/f, never mind the damn car dealer.....
Ohhh.. I must call my mom too..... Now where is the land line with the round dial you put your finger in and turn.....

I read an article about baby boomers, Gen X and millennials and their preferred banking experience. BB wanted to go inside and see a familiar face and chat with the cashier. Gen X want to use the ATM outside but have access to the bank teller if they have questions or need help with some other transaction. Millennials don’t even want to go to the bank and don’t understand why they can’t do everything from their smart phone. Millennials are the next largest generation so businesses will change their model or suffer in sales.
As a millennial I feel qualified enough to say I don’t really want anything different to any of the other voices on here.

The lack of communication and dealer relationship has left a very cold feeling to the new business model compared to other brands. But it’s still encouraging to see the number of die-hard Lotus fans that will endure the nonsense for what should be a very special car 😎

Agreed. As a long term Lotus enthusiast, I have come very close to cancelling on a number of occasions. In my view, this business model of direct selling is not working. I much prefer going to the dealer to buy a car, as I have done with all my previous cars. If this method continues, i will not be buying another Lotus that's for sure.

Back on topic - I've just had the call, I'm now Jan build, Feb delivery from Oct build/Nov delivery. The CS lady was still keen to complete the ful script - and was insistent I was still "one for the first 300", watever that means.

what the hell is going on with this thread... a bit of order required.....
Im getting a friend to get me an iphone in NY this weekend..which one should I get...13.... probably all I need, but 14 not much more expensive.... 14 pro has a few bits and bobs and 3 lenses....

Ohhh sorry, I got confused, I thought I was NO LONGER on an Emira forum....
As usual, Mr Cohen's fault...... I mean @Leonard .... bloody watches..... Its bad enough having to listen to the crap that CS spout out..... last night saying 300 cars delivered UK this year... OMBG..... I had a MGBGT once.....

On the bright side, not that any of you watching really care.... I got an email from spanish dealer
confirming production for December and delivery (their words) maybe december or early January...

That gives me a big problem...quandary ..... oh well.... 0 world problems...

Now, watch yourselves... and get back to your time pieces in pieces in peace
I have a chopard pen if that counts me in to the discussion and a Colombian once tried to sell me a watch...worth about 30k, but I cant recall the make.... and I certainly cant recall having anywhere to go to where it haha
We have to make our own entertainment on this thread, you know that ;)

Good news on your Spanish car. Gives you a week to sell your UK car, over Xmas.....

bloody typical

Just read over on FB that when asked about finance rates Cc reply with "under review"

Understandable... yes
Under considerable pressure..for sure
Under the kosh... oh yes

Undermining some peoples purchasing of the car...... indeed
Underwhelming.... quite the opposite
Underhanded... not really
Under the radar....they have been..
I wont go on...its nearly lunch time..... and I still dont know which colour for my 420 s/r thingy

We have recieved half truths leading to us delaying car purchases since May time???
The cost to hold APR as a gesture of goodwill at this stage would be negligible.
However I appreciate that the finance will no doubt be being funded by a third party

You are correct, as always...... (I bet not many people tell you that!.. haha)...
However, I think we are lucky they are holding the car's pricing first of all, please bear and bare in mind, PORSCHE are NOT holding their pricing .... In Spain they have had more than one raise in the last 12 months, 3 I was told. Some dealers have not passed all of this on, but the dealers themselves are paying more for the cars.
My Ionic 5 raised in price also... but I did not suffer, I suffer with back and shoulder pains, but thats another story.
I dont know how many people will have the price freeze applied in the end, its never been that clear has it....or just the winter freeze....soon to be a topical subject.... but again, not all companies are doing this.
The finance side....taking into account no one knows how far rates will climb, I think its understandable, even with the delays, that Lotus dont lose money on the financing as well as lose money on the cars, which I think they clearly are if you take the delays, fixed costs, overheads, finance etc into account.
However, if their sales suffer, they will have to negotiate the finance once again....

Hi folks, I've only been able to do a minimum of forum activity this week due to work commitments. That's meant less moderator input.

Please can I request this thread is not used for random off-topic chats. You're welcome to start new threads in the relevant sub-forums. For example, I have just moved several posts into a new Off Topic thread about watches. Discussions about details of the checkout process, delivery process, finance etc all already have their own threads.

This thread started about the 30 day notification process and has broadened to cover the lifecycle from deposit to delivery. Inevitably that has also involved discussions about comms and delays. These are all fine on here. Other posts will be deleted or moved.

I appreciate many of you are here every day looking for news and many of us have got to know each other in the EmiraForum-verse. Please don't use this thread as a virtual chat room - use this one:
