Spyder for me. Less polished but in a good way.But which Porsche was best??
718 would make an incredible daily. Like a Golf R x 10

So not tempted by either, want to still take the Emira out for a test drive?Spyder for me. Less polished but in a good way.

I think the Spyder is all the car I need. But will wait until I've driven the Emira. So not tempted by either, want to still take the Emira out for a test drive?
I drove a 4.0 GTS Cayman recently. I liked it, sharp turn in similar to my Elise despite the electrically assisted steering, quick enough despite only having 400bhp, Lol, a really nice car, but not an event. It wasn't a car that I couldn't wait to get into again. I'd probably go for an earlier 3.4S. What did you think?Spyder for me. Less polished but in a good way.

Same. The 3.8 in the Spyder was the more interesting engine for me and sounded amazing despite being older. Sounds like a couple of Emira parallels there lol I alsoreally miss soft tops so there was that angle as well.I drove a 4.0 GTS Cayman recently. I drove the 4.0 GTS before I got out of the Emira, the electric steering is better than in the 918 vesion, but like you I did not find it an event...... I brought a Bentley Super Sport.... now thats an event every time i start it.... and when i feel like fushing on the 3.6 to 60 give every bit an event I need,I drove a 4.0 GTS Cayman recently. I never really noticed it too much on my old GTS. But yes if I got the 981 Spyder I would be going to RPM to have their low ratio gear set and higher final drive.I would possibly spring for a 718 Spyder, but worry about the lousy, tall gearing nobody likes. Anyone make a kit to change the gears?
I took out a 2009 3.4s boxster, 67k miles, 13k of extras, did everything brilliantly, £25k.....did it excite me...... Nah, did I turn my head to look back at it as I left..... Nah! Hooked on the bbr mx5.... Makes me want to set my alarm for 5 in the morning just to go out driving, I Rate it better all round than a variety of performance Elises I tested and vx220 turbo. Just wish I had discovered bbr sooner!I drove a 4.0 GTS Cayman recently. That sentiment is kind of why I'm keen on the Morgan 3 wheelerI took out a 2009 3.4s boxster, 67k miles, 13k of extras, did everything brilliantly, £25k.....did it excite me...... To me it's all about how the car makes you feel, knowing you'll buy it even before you've driven it, like eating with your eye's! All about sensation and not statistics, horsepower etc. Just having fun and feeling happy! That sentiment is kind of why I'm keen on the Morgan 3 wheeler
Plus it's not supercar "Look at me" looks. It's just cooly different
Did you see the new Pistonheads buying guide article on the 570s? Jayemm on youtube had them in his recent post on cars likely to depreciate, but i think they are appropriately accessible with less likelihood of big bills compared to other McLaren fare, especially with a Thorney warranty...I have to say tho, if you could stretch to 720s at c£145k you are getting into P1 driving territory and I cant see them getting any/much better value from here.Yes, went to look at a 12C. Tempting. A different ballgame to the Emira and I'd have to budget a lot more for running costs, including a warranty. A 570 or 650 would mean bumping up the budget another £15-30k, which I could do but is harder to justify for a weekend toy.
It also gave me an excuse to do 2 hours of cross-country driving on mostly empty roads in the Exige. It involves a lot of compromises on practicality but is a brilliant fun drivers car. Wondering if a late Evora GT410 or GT430 might be the sweet spot. Test driving a few alternatives either side of an Emira test drive makes sense.
The Morgan I really wanted, after doing the factory tour (photos and videos allowed everywhere) was the yet to be produced EV 3 wheeler. So clean and simple design. That sentiment is kind of why I'm keen on the Morgan 3 wheeler

I love the Super 3 which is almost the same as the EV3 just with an engine..The Morgan I really wanted, after doing the factory tour (photos and videos allowed everywhere) was the yet to be produced EV 3 wheeler. So clean and simple design.
I hadn't seen the new PH guide, thanks for that. The trouble with looking at 570 then maybe considering stretching to 650 and then thinking it's not much more to 720 is I end up being 50-80% over my original budget! A friend has a 720s and although it's a fantastic piece of engineering he says it's too bonkers fast for public roads. I think I need to go and drive a 570 and 650 next.Did you see the new Pistonheads buying guide article on the 570s? Always the way. I remember getting my student loan and going into the stereo shop for a Walkman and working my way up to two Technics mixing decks and speakers 28 years later nothing has changed.I hadn't seen the new PH guide, thanks for that.
