USA/Canada Delivery Thread

What dealer did you go with? How long from initial deposit to submitting final configuration. I just submitted a deposit with Eurocar in OC. Told may get my car by years end, thought I’m taming my expectations. I would have done so sooner but following this thread from a while back I decided it’s best to have my money in the market. Now that deliveries seem to be “imminent” I decided to place my deposit. Super excited!
Given what's been going on, you may have played your hand well. Curious, did they indicate it would be a base edition given that you're only joining the club now? Or are they giving you any hope that an FE slot may still become available? For me, deposit placed with Eurocar Sept 2022, final build config submitted Dec 2023 for FE 2.0. Have been told March/April build, July/August delivery, but I've already padded my expectations considerably on top of this.

Just got this for what it's worth ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Dear Lotus Emira Depositors:

I wanted to follow up on our previous CARB update, simply to let you all know that Lotus has reported to us that CARB Certification for the V6 Manual Transmission Emira is still on track and expected to be received in the coming few weeks.

As more actionable information becomes available, we will not delay in relaying those updates to you.

Please do not hesitate to reach out to me or your dedicated Galpin Lotus Specialist if you have any questions in the meantime.

Thank you, as always, for your patience, trust, and support.

Sincerely,

Jack

"CARB Certification for the V6 Manual Transmission Emira is still on track"

On track for what? April fools?
The G.D. cars started arriving here two and half months ago!

I used to work with a guy that was always spinning stories.
We nicknamed him "Walking Eagle".
So full of sh*t he can't fly!

Lotus' next model should be named: "Walking Eagle Soon"

Is that dealership in Europe?

I've got a similar config/build timeline. It definitely remains to be seen if we are on track for this. If the CARB saga continues, will builds start to be delayed?

How many weeks? 2, 4, 52, 104, 156??? 😆

They didn’t say but doubt FE and I’m okay with that as I’m late to the party. The Exige was my dream car growing up and the Emira is prob the closest I’ve felt about a vehicle.

There's a good chance you are getting a FE 2.0 as I was told by my dealer that they have 18 FE..20 (from the recently added allocation) left with a end of 2024/early 2025 delivery as of last week.

I placed a deposit 0ct 3 2022
in Toronto and have only heard crickets since. I've called twice to keep in touch with Dealership and still no news. I'm around #160 on wait list. Didn't get an invite for test drive even. I happened to see one available for a test drive near Detroit MI about 6 months ago.
So I drove across 🇨🇦 🇺🇸 border and got a 30 minute slot.

So my question is. Why do we have such different experiences with the process.
I put a deposit like 1 month after your deposit.. and you have configured yours and have s build date etc..
Where were you on the list?

Not sure but may have something to do with the fact that southern Cal has two dealers in the local area, the "big" one, Galpin, and Eurocar. That is if you can call the 60 miles that separate these two "local", but that's LA distances for ya . 160 on the wait list is "big if true" (sorry, had to. :)). I think I was told I was around 62 with Eurocar when I placed my deposit. I had heard that Galpin had many more, but the theory was they would be getting a higher allocation. So from there the game started as to how many allocations a particular dealer got vs how many depositors they had on the wait list. Late last summer I, along with another on this forum, moved up pretty quick. On Oct 7 I had moved up to #2 and on Dec 7 I was informed that I got my allocation and I submitted my build. Presumably this could have been due to a number of factors including the dealer receiving an additional allocation, people moving to the i4, and also perhaps people dropping out. I do feel I got lucky getting an FE. We'll see if that actually winds up being lucky.

I was told the same thing last week 12 unexpected FE 2.0 allotments. I assume it’s because i4 and v6 autos are delayed but does that dilute the pool of total FEs on the road?

Dilute? I mean, only if you're looking at the car like a bar of gold bullion or something. It's a car, it has functional utility. It's not an arbitrary financial instrument.

I can understand the dilute thing. Announcing FE2.0s totally diluted the special or limited attractiveness of First Edition Emiras (to me at least). They did nothing to make the FE1.0s special, other than a painful 2 year wait of delays and poor comms to us early deposit holders. The original 6 colors are still offered on FE2.0s too.. which again, leaves nothing limited or attractive to the 1.0s over the 2.0s other than initial price. And here we are now with 2.0s ready for delivery at the same time as 1.0s.

Or I could be totally off and that's not what @Deeznuss was talking about.

I think we had similar discussions about this when we were all wondering what versions of a desirable car holds their value the best. It was so long ago... I still had hair, and hope sprang eternal...

I believe the gist of that discussion was that first/launch editions of any car isn't going to be all that special. Typically, it's going to be the hottest version released towards the end of a model's life that's the most desirable.
