It seems that we're expecting an update email tomorrow. Of course, given events over the past year, we maybe should not be expecting anything at all, but assuming that an email will be winging it's way towards us, what will it say? Will it be honest about the current situation and why it has occurred? I'm thinking a mess of UK type approval. Will it tell us about exactly what sort of Emira we might now be getting? The extent of ADAS, speed limiter and lane assist. Will it be possible to turn those features off or will they now be a fixed feature? Will there be a massive push for car completion, PDI and delivery before Christmas? Or will there be further delays for the UK pushing us into late Q1 2023, so March earliest? I'm not optimistic on any of these points. I don't think that Lotus will admit to any errors with regards to type approval, what compulsory features there will be, when test drives will be available or when UK cars are expected to be delivered. They may now migrate to eventually because soon no longer cuts it. What do you all think?
No to all of those questions, very sceptical that the email will even arrive, but definitely doubt it will be honest about the situation, he had the opportunity to do that in the Harry video and the last email and didn't, so suspect it will either contain hardly any information at all, more bull or just more excuses. Probably just more delays and lots of use of the word soonWill it be honest about the current situation and why it has occurred? I'm thinking a mess of UK type approval. When was your deposit?
I missed out on this by 40mins because I slept on the decision, back in April 21. Dripping in carbon. I would have removed the stripe! Similar (lower spec) cars went up £15k in the proceeding weeks.yes... although now 4 year old..2018 no? they are under 90k, but not down to 80 yet... but will get there.
I have to say the vantage looks great and IMO looks more classy and expensive than the Emira, but the Emira looks more "sporty" if that makes sense. Both very good designs, both with crappy outdated interiors, but the Vantage has 34 cows in there with you so you would feel as if it more value for money.
The noise.. no comparison.....
yes, for me too this car, used, is a competitor, but its apples and oranges again.... 120k car vs 60k...
Onwership costs will be higher though!
*I think guys on here in similar regions should form a car club and buy 5 6 cars between them and share them... Just saying...... 20 guys put 80k each - 1.6 million for 7 cars.... gives you a while new window..and not many on here will daily them.
I agree with you that Lotus will not be transparent regarding the reasons for the delays. When MW blamed Brexit for delays, I could hardly believe what I was hearing particularly when he referenced this against regulations. My, perhaps naive, view of Brexit was that it cut us away from European regulations to a very large degree. I could have better understood what MW said if he was running a business in Europe selling cars to the UK and there were new factors to consider. But, this is a UK manufacturer trying to sell to UK residents how does Brexit affect that. There may be some supply chain kinks to resolve, but this happened 2 years ago and it wasn't as though it was a surprise even then, companies had a couple of years notice before we left the EU to start to get revised arrangements in place. It seems that we're expecting an update email tomorrow. I hate to say this, but my opinion is now that Lotus appear incompetent and as time passes seem to be incapable of achieving any of their promises. What a terrible mess.
The conversation I had at B&C with someone from HQ recently suggested that the issue had been the long queues for getting approval in the UK with the number of models being put forward by many manufacturers, and potentially the lack of preparedness of the UK authorities. He did imply they prepared EU submissions before UK, however, so not sure how much I buy that.I agree with you that Lotus will not be transparent regarding the reasons for the delays. I've already lined up a Spyder,if the Emira isn't delivered this year as per their supposed email incoming,I will be reverting to a base model and enjoy the (most likely) 2 year wait in a PorkerMy version of this goes as follows…
• most of us get an email (probably today)telling us we’re very sorry for the delay and we understand your frustrations but your car will now arrive in Q1 2023
• Then radio silence until sometime in the new year while we all support each other on the forums.
• Then at some point in early 2023 further delays will be announced due to complete and utter incompetence. ( this will be mainly for later deposit holders)
• In the meantime interest rates will hike way beyond 10% our part exchanges will likely devalue and the price for all versions of the Emira will go up and the world will go into recession.
Most of the drop outs will be people like myself who will be financing the car, this is a real recipe for disaster for Lotus and the timing is adding fuel to the fire.
This is really damaging to this supposedly re generated brand.
I for one really want Lotus to succeed and really want to be apart of that, but seriously it couldn’t get any worse.
I cant even be mad with that decisionI've already lined up a Spyder,if the Emira isn't delivered this year as per their supposed email incoming,I will be reverting to a base model and enjoy the (most likely) 2 year wait in a Porker
6 to 12 months on the Carrera T a serious option but I suppose if you can't wait the spider is a great car.I've already lined up a Spyder,if the Emira isn't delivered this year as per their supposed email incoming,I will be reverting to a base model and enjoy the (most likely) 2 year wait in a Porker
The irony is,when I went to my (second) reveal of he Emira at Silverstone, a 718 Spyder parked up next to me and caught my eye....6 to 12 months on the Carrera T a serious option but I suppose if you can't wait the spider is a great car.
Ha ha, my wife has been on at me about sorting our drive also.My wife has been nagging me to get our driveway fixed for months. She knows it’s getting done before the new car arrives. The machinery arrives 9 November. Is that telling me something?
(Apologies to any of our American friends who don’t get UK dates )
a spyder...what treachery is this? How dare you get one of the most desirable sports cars for the price with one of the best ever engines money can buy, shame on you!I've already lined up a Spyder,if the Emira isn't delivered this year as per their supposed email incoming,I will be reverting to a base model and enjoy the (most likely) 2 year wait in a Porker
lets be honest, you could get your drive way and a 3 bedroom extension done before the car arrivesMy wife has been nagging me to get our driveway fixed for months. She knows it’s getting done before the new car arrives. The machinery arrives 9 November. Is that telling me something?
