Anyone received their 30 day notification yet?

I just scheduled my test drive for next Friday at Lotus of Boston. I will be driving my R8 to the test drive so I can do a back to back comparison. Should be interesting test. Excited to see car in person and drive my first Lotus.
Think you’ll be tad disappointed compared it to a R8 - it’s gonna be nothing like that thrill, acceleration and sound IMO
Can’t wait for your full feedback 😊

SOOOOOOOO...
AM I the only one who got the EMAIL... THIS AFTERNOON..while walking my dogs after my hot water boiler gave up the ghost and inundated the apartment below me without me realizing? Just to top off a good day!

\ok its not THE EMail, but it is an EMail and it is from L O T U S. notice the missing W
I cant be the only one, or should I be feeling special??? Has all my sarcasm and dry ugly wit paid off?? It arrived at 4.31 pm and its about the protection... which if memory serves from the Sept / November 99, is the first real step of getting your eventual checkout email, which could be anywhere between 1 and 3 and never weeks later.
NOW..I am no hypocrite and I stick by everything I said before, although I do regret it a little bit now if I am honest..... but now my boiler has gone and I have no water in the apartment at all, the regret is minimal... but at this stage, I am still a way off.

Ive made a few adjustments to the email, and I put them in bold, just in case you didnt spot them and one in italics... Lets hope Lotus have a sense of humor, or else this could be the last email I get.

Dear Gary,

The Lotus Emira has been designed and engineered to perform as one of the world's greatest drivers' cars - thats what Harry says, so who are we to argue, and we're delighted to announce some further options to help look after your Emira when (IF) it arrives.

Lotus Cars and Lotus Financial Services have approved a range of products, specifically designed to protect your new Lotus Emira, from the alloys and tyres, to the upholstery and paintwork, a 3-year fixed price service package to keep your Emira at the peak of performance, extended warranty, GAP insurance and a range of finance options. HOWEVER, we felt the best way to protect the car is not to give it to you in the first place.

Before we shortly (soon) invite you to complete the purchase of your new Lotus Emira, we wanted to give you time (WFT, more time?) to review these value added products as they will be offered in the checkout process (and believe you me, its A process).

Every week a 3 year old vantage is getting closer to 80k - my bench car for now. If the Emira isn't, no matter it being new, as good as a 3 year old Vantage I'll buy the Vantage.
Depreciation for both cars at this point will be broadly the same.
It may be that there isn't a rush to test drive the Emira now as i cant see my predicted November delivery being met until sometime in early 2023.

Whilst I’m feeling similar, I think the new Vantage is a total hash inside. I was horrified at the launch compared to the beauty of the older car… which to be fair the older car had a shit sat nav and the gear stick got in the way of some of the controls…. 😉

The way it looked on my drive though! 😍

Jesus...what a way to bring people down. Feels like some folks in here need to relax or go to a therapist.

Next comment will be "Make sure you don't drive an F1 because everything will be disappointing". Well...of course.

Go enjoy your drive and don't benchmark the car, benchmark your own feeling and engagement.

29th November, Dubai, 2002 Jaguar F1. Will be my second time. It is so damn amazing, especially when it's DARK!!!!!!
Still, not as thrilling as waking every morning and scrolling through these forums ;)

Kind of agree but I’m sure this doesn’t make any sense… what should I be benchmarking my feelings against if not those that come from driving another car?

Dancing?

Being drunk?

Snowboarding maybe is vaguely in the same ballpark…

Indeed. Please sell all your cars

your feeling of driving the car. Not just comparing against another clearly better performing car. My f80 is miles better than my E46, but I know which one I'll sell first.

Benchmarking kind of means comparing to something… well… comparable you know… like another car!?…

Any way it’s gonna knock yer feckin# socks off I reckon r8 or no r8!!

Indeed, compare apples and oranges and it will be a good decision.

Well surely you’re going to want to compare your likely future car against your current, regardless of how fruity they are?!
And if the future car is faster around a lap but feels dull? In the Carrera T someone mentions how their 992 felt too good and more of a GT. So, what is the deciding factor? Performance strictly? If it's performance only then the Emira should fall of the radar of many around here.

Depends what floats your particular boat I guess.

I did my old vantage back to back with 991 gts on some country roads…. which is where I like to drive… found the gts dull - although most people seem to rate it higher - and kept the vantage

I did find the v8 howl vs the comparably boring Porsche rasp was one of the factors

Noticed you didn’t post what the guy actually said - he said “he was driving his R8 to the test drive to do a back to back comparison”
💯 % it will not compare against the performance of a R8 fact - chill I wasn’t bringing him down at all. Emira can’t be put up against a R8 different beast and indeed different growl 🐯 from the exhaust
and yes I still suffer from separation anxiety 😥
