I wrote a lengthy reply but I am over it. Yes I want the car but its not why I've been disappointed the last 12 months. They have a procurement/sourcing team getting regular updates from suppliers. Some of the problems include suppliers not being open or realistic about their own timelines, but also it can be things outside the suppliers' control - raw material provider or sub-component supplier doesn't deliver, government imposes new lockdown, logistics problems etc.
Lotus are trying to get more detailed info to back up the dates suppliers are giving them, for example are items in production or in transit to Hethel. Every indication I've had about the delays for V6 FE manual cars is that they are all related to parts supply, not production processes or approvals. That's less clear for auto V6 and i4.
They can re-run a production schedule regularly based on latest info - they were doing it 1-2x per month in January and it's probably weekly at the moment. The problem seems to be they won't publish the info until they feel ready to do that.
I think Lotus were perhaps a bit naïve about managing the supply chain in a post-pandemic world, but other manufacturing firms have been caught out by that too. They were unlucky to publish timelines in July 2021 with Covid apparently lessening, then got hit by the impacts of Omicron and Russia/Ukraine. It's a really tough environment to be managing production of something as complex as a new car. I'm sure there are things they could have done differently on sourcing. But the fundamental issue is comms.
I too am now just waiting for the car to arrive on whatever date that turns out to be. But I can drive one of my other cars in the meantime and have given up on doing any trips or events with an Emira this summer. For others who are waiting for a new daily or fun car with no alternative, particularly those new to Lotus, I have every sympathy with how badly you've been treated by Lotus.
Agree 100%I appreciate that I might sound like a d**k but if the biggest issue in your life is when are you getting your new sports car things are going ok for you. I recommend we all do some breathing exercises and meditation

All I will say is that I hope the apparent disdain for their customers old and new is resolved.
Otherwise their D2C model is doomed to fail and with Geelys ambitions that will mean a big shakeup at Hethel.

Day 3, in Lotus Email week. And yes you guessed it, no email. It should be pretty clear by now, that if Lotus had all the parts to build a customer car and ship it, they would. They can't give a definitive production timeline because their supply line isn't stable. If Lotus was the only company in the world displaying this problem, it would be a serious issue with the company. However, as we all know, everybody is having these issues everywhere. Some manufacturers have actually taken to shipping cars to customers with missing parts and/or features, just to be able to ship something.
It's crazy right now, so I don't fault Lotus for not handling things perfectly in this unprecedented maelstrom everybody is in at the moment. Nobody has any experience with this kind of thing. To be honest, how do you even handle this? This is actually worse than a war-time economy. Sure they could communicate more, but what can they say? Everything is a screwed up mess and we have no idea when it's going to get unscrewed? That's where it seems to be right now. I can only imagine how exhausting this must be for everyone at Lotus. They were expecting to be running two full shifts right now, instead everything is in limbo. This has to be a total pain for work scheduling for the employees. It must also be putting a huge strain on their finances. Their overhead has been going on for months and continues without any revenue coming in from delivering cars.
All the major manufacturers seem to be significantly lowering their production/shipping projections. It's not just Lotus. Geico just announced they're closing all their offices in California and laying off all the personnel there, yet claiming they're still going to do business in the state, just with online interaction only. It looks like the lack of being able to ship cars is having an impact on the insurance industry too.
I've lived through our President being assassinated, wars, recessions, inflations, energy crisis and gas shortages, civil violence, riots and unrest, real estate bubbles bursting, etc., but I've never seen anything this crazy, or this deep in its craziness. And yet, here I sit waiting for an Emira, which I am able to pay for without going into debt. I honestly don't feel like I have anything to complain about; certainly nothing serious. I'm praying for things to improve, and in the meantime, I'll just wait patiently for my car to be built and delivered. If that's my only problem, I'm doing okay.
Unfortunately deposits have been taken for delivery 2024!!!sounds better spec'd than my emira, will you take an offer?
Don't worry, it's been sold!I don't even know what to make of this...
Last week I was expecting parts to be delivered by Wednesday. Wednesday came and went; nothing arrived. Thursday I call the supplier; he's at lunch, will call me back by the end of the day. No call comes. Friday I call supplier and he says there was an issue, but parts will be delivered Monday. I tell you "We'll have a production estimate for you next week."Having purchased a used and a new Caterham, and a 2 year old S2 Elise with no problems at all. I was very excited to b
