What did you do to your Emira today?

Did a dyno today with my JUBU440 upgrade… impressive results! Have decat, air filter and valve controller.. here are the results!

Power is absolutely there with the JUBU upgrade, just a few teething problems which hopefully will be fixed remotely with the JUBU team.

Damn. That's already a lot of parts already. The oil cooler broke too, got oil in the track. Plus you have to add labor. I'm thinking there must be chassis damage from either the front right control arms, or as indicated by a cracked windshield which cracked not because it was hit directly by anything - but there's a spot you can see something underneath the windshield caused it to crack.

I feel fine about it not that it's settled. I was having so much fun, was pushing myself and my limits, the car was handling great, and thankfully I didn't hit anyone and didn't get hit.

Turning right onto the straight away the back went out, I tried to counter steer to stop the spin, but didn't have enough distance and understeered into the guardrail on the front right side.
Sorry about this and I’m glad you’re ok

After comparing your dynos to mine, the big difference which is what you feel, is torque. At 2,500 rpm you have about 440nm and I have 284. We both have the same power to the rear wheels. Although they're showing much higher engine power, the power to the rear wheels is almost exactly the same as mine, with a max of about 389hp for you and 386 for me. If they're crank hp number is accurate, you're showing a drivetrain loss of almost 16%, while I'm showing 7.6%. I have no idea why there would be that much difference. The difference in torque is what's worth it though, which is what the Emira needs more than anything.

Where you'll be able to measure the real-world difference is in 0-60 times.

The torque is there.. and its great! 0-100(0-60) times is hard to measure as I don't have a good meter such as draggy… i use the OBD2 app for the 0-100 times and so far its very disappointing… I am around the 5.5sec as I have quite a bit wheel spin and use the track mode (according to JUBU thats where they have tuned all the performance in) so lots of spinning on the pull ups and also losing quite a bit of time in the upshift… so not sure how reliable my time is, but on the same time I doubt lotus claim 4.3sec on a stock emira… forget about that, not true

Took my car to Lotus Silverstone to have a few cosmetic bits changed about: The yellow badges changed to black and the stock gaiter replaced with one made by Hide and Seam. The eagle eyed amongst you may notice the smartphone tray isn't sitting right in the third picture: I had to get them to re-fit the shroud around the gaiter. Only noticed when I got home, though. 🤦‍♂️

Next job, figure out a way to clean the car myself - I don't have an outside water source. 🤔

Optimum No Rinse (ONR) rinseless car wash might do the trick for you. Bucket of water with ONR, spray some on, soak a mitt or microfiber towels, gently glide over each surface, dry with a dedicated microfiber drying towel...done.

There is a YouTube video which was posted a few months ago where they tested the Emira along with several other cars, and if memory serves me correctly they got 4.1 for the 0-60mph, so it’s certainly possible.

Curious about what you’ve said re JUBU tuning the performance to track mode. Does that mean the power / torque is less in other modes?
I pretty much never use track mode (usually sport unless I want to sneak out or in to home in which case I use tour).

4.1 wow thats impressive, I dont see myself doing that unless my 3rd party meter is waaay off.. I know its not a professional measuring tool but 4.1 thats great! I think JUBU does not even claim those numbers with the upgrades… only with their 530 upgrade (almost 30k USD) they bring it down below 4 seconds.. after shaving off more than 100kg on unsprung weight to 1350kg.

My dyno guy said, the tune what JUBU has done is perfect! Look at the graph he said, the dyno guys will understand it. The power-curve is impressive. Off course it has some teething issues which needs to be ironed out and hopefully a remote session is enough (as I have the latest/upgraded firmware unlike the US customers who needed an upgraded ecu).

This car with more torque (measured against a Carrera S 992.1) is really great! Yes the Carrera beats me on the pull ups but once you are going and floor it from 3500 rpm is pulls amazingly up till 7200 rpm and competes well with the Carrera S easily.. so on the track this will beat the Carrera S all day everyday. Hence my dyno guy said these cars are not for straight line speed because its NA SC, it build for the track! Turbos are not use on the track.

For me next step is weight reduction.
